Rupali Ganguly made it to the headlines soon after her step-daughter, Esha Verma made shocking claims against her. For the unversed, Esha Verma's old posts made rounds on social media, wherein she accused the Anupamaa actress of ruining her and her mom's life. For the unversed, Esha is the daughter of Rupali's husband, Ashwin, and his second wife, Sapna. Well, Rupali hit back with a Rs. 50 crore defamation case. Now, Rupali's lawyer, Sana Raees Khan shared an update about the case along with the after-effects of Esha's false claims on the actress, which was extended to such a point that she had to take a legal step.
In an interview with Times Now, Sana Raees Khan shared that they have filed a defamation case in the Bombay High Court to protect Rupali's image and reputation, which was being harmed by some malicious and baseless claims. Sana added that this legal action will be an example that no one should misuse the public platform to ruin anyone's image, and if they cross the line, there will be consequences. A 263-page chargesheet was submitted with the defamation lawsuit. Sana remarked that legal action would be taken, and Esha was asked for Rs. 50 crore for the damages as well. In Sana's words:
"Yes, we have issued a defamation notice. We will take appropriate legal action. We have sent Esha a legal notice asking Rs 50 crore in damages also."
Going further in the interview, Sana Raees Khan revealed the effect of Esha's claims on Rupali. The lawyer added that it was traumatic for the actress, who was shocked by Esha's claims, as they were on good terms. Sana shared that Rupali never expected that this could happen, and she first tried to keep up with dignified silence, until people started talking about her son, Rudransh. Sana said that Esha maliciously referred to her son as illegitimate, which made the actress come up with the lawsuit, as dragging an 11-year-old kid in the dirt was simply unacceptable. In Sana's words:
"Rupali had a traumatic experience considering what all she's been through. Esha put out numerous posts which was absolutely shocking. Rupali had never expected this because they have been very cordial and on good terms. All of a sudden this happened. Initially, Rupali maintained a dignified silence. Subsequently, things worsened with time and people started circulating things about her son also. She maliciously referred to her son as illegitimate and that's when Rupali decided to take action. Esha was pulling up an 11-year-old kid in midst of all this dirt."
In an interview with Times Now, Esha Verma had called her step-brother, illegitimate. Later, Esha took to her IG handle and shared a story wherein she denied commenting on her brother and slammed the media for creating unnecessary speculations, as she never tried to drag her brother into this. Several times, in her social media posts, Esha Verma had stated that she never wanted to drag her brother into this, as it was her battle, and she hoped her father could be the papa to Rudransh, which he couldn't be to her.
After Rupali Ganguly filed a defamation case against Rupali Ganguly, she deactivated her social media handles and even archived her posts against her step-mom and father. A few days ago, she shared a few picture notes, wherein she addressed hiding her posts about Rupali. Esha mentioned that she didn't do it out of fear, but she felt that she had shared her part of the story and she just needed to be focused on her present now.
