Superstar, Saif Ali Khan is one of the most underrated Khans of Bollywood. Back in the 90s, the handsome hunk had stepped his foot into the showbiz world with his ‘royal legacy’ of being the Pataudi prince. Over the years, Saif has won millions of fans with his perfect comic timing, quirky charm and kind smile. However, once his mother and iconic actress, Sharmila Tagore had revealed that Saif was a spontaneous child. Now, the actor reacted to that old comment, and his witty questions are too hilarious to be missed.
For those who don’t know, Bengali beauty, Sharmila Tagore and cricket legend, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had tied the knot in 1969. And this had marked the beautiful reunion of Bollywood and the cricket industry. The lovebirds had welcomed their first child, Saif Ali Khan in 1970. And after a few years, Saif had a sister with the arrival of Saba Ali Khan in 1976, followed by Soha Ali Khan in 1978.

In many previous interviews, Saif Ali Khan’s doting mother, Sharmila Tagore had mentioned that Saif was never an easy child to handle and he was a true rule-breaker. In an old interview with Firstpost back in 2012, Sharmila had got candid and had talked about his childhood days. During the conversation, the actress had mentioned that Saif was a ‘spontaneous’ child, and this statement had raised many questions. Sharmila could be quoted as saying:
"I thought he was a very beautiful baby, he was a beautiful boy too, very cuddly. But right from the beginning, he had a mind of his very own. He was not an easy child. He broke every rule of the game. And that was a trait that stayed with him. He was a challenge. He was extremely bright, very intelligent, it did not take him any time to get bored. He was impulsive, spontaneous, could grasp a situation at once. I was very busy those days, through his early years. From 1 to 6 years, I was doing double shifts, could barely take him to school and back.”
In a recent conversation with social media influencer, Kusha Kapila, Saif Ali Khan was quizzed about Sharmila Tagore’s comment on him being a ‘spontaneous child'. Answering this, the Sacred Games actor said that even he could not understand what that comment meant. Further, he doubted whether he was a mistake by his parents and if his birth was not planned by his mother, Sharmila Tagore and his father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. In his words:
"What does that mean? Does that mean that she had me spontaneously? It's like a borderline mistake. She said I was a mistake?"

In an old interview with the DNA, Sharmila Tagore had opened up about how she was not there for Saif in his growing years because of her professional commitments. During the conversation, she had mentioned that her neighbour, Sunita Goswami had become Saif’s second mother and had helped her a lot in his upbringing. Sharmila had shared:
“I wasn’t there as much for Saif as I was for Soha and Saba as I wasn’t working so much then. I was very busy during Saif’s time and when he was growing up. I was doing double shifts, but I did have the support of my husband and also my neighbour Sunita Goswami, who also happened to be teaching at Saif’s Bohri-run school Saifee Mahal, which was a wonderful school run by Mrs Noorani. She was Saif’s second mother and she and her husband Jatin looked after him a lot. I was there for all his milestones, but I really wasn’t there for his day-to-day work. When the girls were born, I was less busy.”
