Saira Banu is one of the most beautiful and charming legendary actresses. She had reigned as one of the most successful diva in the 70s decade of Bollywood, and has made some impeccable contributions to the film world. Saira got married to the handsome actor, Dilip Kumar in 1966, despite having an enormous age gap of 22 years. The duo stayed beside each other till the latter’s last breath in 2021. And recently, the legendary actress made her social media debut, and ever since, she has been dropping some nostalgic throwback moments with her late husband.
Saira Banu made her social media debut recently at the age of 78. Every now and then, she has been sharing some unmissable, throwback pictures of herself and her dear husband, late Dilip Kumar. However, it has been the nostalgic back story associated with those that have won hearts. Something similar happened when on July 11, 2023, Saira dropped a picture of her Yusuf sahab playing cricket. Along with it, she penned a long note, where she revealed the unheard side of the late actor, as a fond athlete. In her words:
“I always love to see this photograph as I know of his yearning as a youngster to become the country's best sportsman! However, The Almighty and Fate had fashioned a very different destiny for Mohammed Yousuf Khan… at that time, every evening after college he always went to the grounds behind the Metro Cinema to play cricket and football with passion. With other like minded sports enthusiasts... Sahibji sweetly narrated to me how with great excitement he purchased his first cricket bat and sports shoes from a shop near Metro Cinema...! The athletic side of Dilip Sahib was so strong while in school and college that he emerged a winner and victorious also in every 200 meters race.”

In the second half of her long note, Saira also recalled a special anecdote and shared how there was a time when Dilip sahab taught her how to play cricket. The former actress added that there was a scheduled friendly cricket match with eminent filmmaker, Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar himself had taught her how to play the sport. Moreover, she recalled how she was able to bowl out the captain from the opposite team in the match within the first ball itself. She mentioned:
“A funny incident I recollect was when we were just married....Once all the film stars got together to play a benefit cricket match.... Sahib ji trained me for a week long in our garden for bowling… we were to play in Dilip Kumar Sahib's Team and Raj Kapoor Saab's team.... With my bowling… can you believe I bowled the captain out first ball…to which Raj ji could not stop laughing "Arrey, yeh ladki toh serious ho gayi hai"...eventually I bowled out 8 of them.”
A few days back, Saira Banu had taken to her IG handle and dropped a candid black and white picture of herself from the older days. In the picture, Saira ji looked as gorgeous as ever in a suit set, and had her dupatta draped around her head. However, it was the caption that won hearts. The legendary actress highlighted how she missed her old days, where she flaunted her 22-inch waistline quite effortlessly.
