Lately, the rumours regarding Dhoni’s retirement again came into the forefront. It all got heated up on September 12, 2019, when Virat Kohli randomly posted a picture with MS Dhoni from the field. In the picture, which happened to be from 2016 T20 World Cup series when Virat and Dhoni together had led the Men In Blue to victory, we can see Virat bowing down to him. Virat’s caption along with the picture could be read as, “A game I can never forget. Special night. This man, made me run like in a fitness test @mahi7781.”
Though it was a random post by Virat, but netizens were keen to speculate if Dhoni is taking retirement. A user wrote, “As per this post I think Dhoni bhai is going to retire this month.” Another one commented, “@amit.surve @pc_pratik : A tweet/ post out of nowhere.. is this an indication of the news to come @mahi7781.” A user wrote, “Wait! tell me I’m not thinking right.” And other one penned, “This post reflects on Dhoni making an announcement of retirement today. Now, putting rest to all the rumours that are floating around about MS Dhoni’s retirement, his darling wife, Sakshi Singh Dhoni posted a straightaway tweet. Sakshi Dhoni took to Twitter and cleared the air by writing, "It’s called rumours!" And that’s what we call a kickass reply! On the other hand, chief selector MSK Prasad also informed the ANI and told them that the news is totally incorrect, “No update on MS Dhoni’s retirement, the news is incorrect.” (Also Read: Ajay Devgn And Kajol's Wish For Yug On His 9th Birthday Is Pure Love, She Even Added Humour To It)
For the unversed, Dhoni and Sakshi had gotten married on July 4, 2010, and the couple has always been all-praises about each other. Once in a media interaction, Mahi had praised his wife and was quoted as saying, "Sakshi provides the spark I might sometimes need. Jokes aside, she is the person to whom I have a reference. She is both loving and inspirational. Sometimes she travels with me, but cricket is easier without having to ensure her safe passage. One day, we will see the sights together and she says that then, can she please move to number two on the list of my priorities! But for the moment I am here to play cricket. I have been given this honour to play for my country, so I want to see it through."
In another media interaction, Dhoni had gone on to reveal how his wife, Sakshi comes third in his priority list after his country and his parents. He had said, "I love my country. I tell my wife she is only the third most important thing after my country and my parents, in that order. The point is that while I am an Indian cricketer, I will devote myself to that cause. Cricket is not everything, not by any means, but it is a large part of who I am. Therefore, I want to play in all formats of the game and to play as much as possible because before longing it will be over. Then I’ll focus more on the Army."
