Sakshi Malik is one of the most famous and remarkable freestyle wrestlers in the country. Born on September 3, 1992, to her parents, Sukhbir Malik and Sudesh Malik, she changed the face of women wrestling in India. It was her achievement back at the 2016 Summer Olympics when Sakshi engraved her name in history as one of the greatest Indian athletes ever. Sakshi Malik is also a proud member of the esteemed JSW Sports Excellence Program, which also featured other famous wrestlers like Vinesh Phogat, Babita Kumari, and Geeta Phogat.
For the unversed, in the 58 kg category, Sakshi Malik clinched the bronze medal at Rio Summer Olympics 2016, becoming the first-ever Indian female wrestler to achieve such a feat at the Olympics. However, prior to her Olympic triumph, Sakshi had already showcased her prowess by securing the silver medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Another notable feat she achieved before making a name for herself on the global stage was the 2015 Asian Wrestling Championship in Doha, where she won the bronze medal. Time and again, Sakshi Malik's achievements on the global wrestling stage have made every Indian proud.
Indian wrestler, Sakshi Malik was born in Haryana and attended Vaish Public School in Rohtak for her primary education. Later, she went to DAV Centenary Public School in the same city for her secondary education. After completing her schooling, Sakshi joined the famous Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU) in Rohtak, Haryana, to pursue a Master's degree in physical education.

Olympic medallist, Sakshi Malik’s husband, Satyawart Kadian is an Indian wrestler. Satyawart made his debut for India at the inaugural 2010 Youth Olympics, where he showcased his wrestling talent by winning a bronze medal in the boys' freestyle 100 kg category. His success continued as he represented India in the 2014 Commonwealth Games and succeeded in securing a silver medal in the 97 kg weight class. Satyawart is also a recipient of the prestigious Arjun Award.
Not a lot of people know the fact that Satyawart Kadian is the son of Satyawan Kadian, who is a renowned wrestler. Satyawan had reportedly competed in the 1988 Summer Olympics. The lineage of wrestling excellence runs strong in the Kadian family, and Satyawart's achievements continue to build, taking their family name to new heights.
Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian crossed paths for the first time during the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Both of them performed well in their respective matches and won silver medals. However, Sakshi was quite disappointed as she couldn’t clinch the gold.

It was then that Satyawart cheered Sakshi and told her that she had done a great job and that she should be proud of herself. Satyawart also advised Sakshi to aim for the Olympics instead of feeling sorry for not winning a gold medal in Commonwealth Games. The way Satyawart boosted Sakshi, the latter fell in love with him and the way he sees life and its difficulties. After that, Sakshi and Satyawart started travelling together, and gradually, their bond turned into a deep friendship. Soon they started dating each other and were also accompanying each other to international championships.
On April 2, 2017, Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian’s wedding ceremony took place in Rohtak and was graced by the presence of several notable guests. Sakshi looked resplendent in a stunning red embroidered lehenga, while Satyawart complemented his ladylove’s attire in an elegant olive green sherwani.
As guests arrived at the venue, they were greeted with captivating images and videos showcasing Sakshi's remarkable triumphs. In addition, a large LCD screen at the entrance played footage of her memorable moment at the Rio Olympics, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The wrestler-couple, Sakshi Malik and Satyawart Kadian don’t have any children as of now.
In 2022, Vinesh Phogat sent shockwaves through the wrestling community by accusing Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the President of the Wrestling Federation of India and a BJP MLA, of sexual harassment.
Vinesh's shocking revelations made fellow wrestlers like Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and more join her in a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against the BJP MLA. Sakshi, being an Olympic medalist, became a central figure of the protest, and it was disheartening to see her and other wrestlers pleading for justice on the streets of Delhi.
