Somy Ali used to once hog the limelight because of her rumoured romantic involvement with Salman Khan, back in the early '90s. Now, it looks like the maternal instincts in the Pakistani-American actress have kicked in as she is planning to adopt a baby and act as a girl from a small village in India. The actress was born in Karachi, Pakistan on March 25, 1976, for the unversed. She moved to Florida with her family when she was nine and acted in movies like Teesra Kaun, Krishan Avtaar, and Yaar Gadaar.
Somy's career in Bollywood was brief but it was successful. She was known for her equation with Salman, but in the early '90s, she left Bollywood and shifted to the USA to pursue her social work. Somy never thought of settling down with kids, as she was always in the 'crush zone' addiction. However, subconsciously, her mom became her inspiration and hope, motivating her to adopt a child. Somy, in an interview with IANS shared that she would like to adopt a baby girl from her second country India. She said:
"One day the goal is to have baby Malala play with baby Ram and baby Ram play with baby Tom. n infant from my second country, India. Even when I was there from 1990 to 1998 we addressed it as Bombay. And my grandparents were born there as well as my father."
Somy, reflecting on her past, said that when she was 16-24 years old, she felt like her life had just started and she had a lot to explore. When she returned to Miami and jumped into the education pool, she tried to take hold of every degree possible.
In the interview with IANS, Somy revealed that her mom had origins from Iraq, grew up in Pakistan loving Amitji, Rekha Ji, Kaka ji. Her father was a filmmaker who had introduced actors like Javed Shaikh at their studio. Somy also shared that Pakistani stars, Fawad and Mahira Khan's acting in Bollywood was loved by many. She felt that craft and talent did not see borders and same went with music. Calling it 'color blind', Somy also said that Malala, her adopted girl would watch Hindi films. She said:
"So, yes my baby girl will be from a village in India and will be named Malala Ali. Malala will watch Hindi movies and have a crush."
Somy, once in her now-deleted Instagram post, revealed that Salman had tons of flings and affairs and would belittle the former actress. He would call her ugly, dumb, and not a day went by when he didn't make her feel worthless and small. He would not acknowledge her as his girlfriend in public for years, and when he finally did, he would insult her in front of his friends.
