Samantha and Naga Chaitanya tied the knot on October 6, 2017, as per Hindu and Christian rituals. However, in 2021, rumours started cropping up that the power couple of Tollywood was having troubles in their marriage. Finally, four days before their fourth wedding anniversary, Samantha and Chaitanya released an official statement about ending their marriage, leaving their massive fanbase heartbroken.
Samantha was shattered after her separation from Naga Chaitanya, and her anger was quite visible when she appeared in one of the episodes of Koffee With Karan 7. When the host Karan Johar asked her whether she and her ex-husband, Naga Chaitanya had hard feelings for each other, the actress confirmed it and said:
“There are hard feelings like if you put the both of us in a room you have to hide sharp objects. So as of now, yes. It's not an amicable situation right now. It might be in the future."
Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an actress par excellence, and the actress has been in the spotlight lately for her bold roles. For her role in the OTT series, The Family Man, Samantha had to portray a bold image, and reports claimed that it became one of the reasons for her divorce. A report in the media suggested that Samantha had decided to end her marriage with Chaitanya because his family was against her performing bold scenes in her movies. To add more fire to the rumours, in an interview with a leading daily, Naga Chaitanya also spoke about his choice of roles and said that he would not take up any character that tarnishes his family's name. In his words:
“I am game for all kinds of roles. However, those roles should not affect my family and our reputation. I will not accept roles that would embarrass my family.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya were the most loved couple in Tollywood, and the news of their separation came as a huge shock to all their fans. After Samantha and Chaitanya announced their separation, rumours were rife that the actress was given Rs. 200 crore alimony. However, according to a report in India Today, Samantha declined the alimony of Rs. 200 crore, which Chaitanya and his family passed. A source revealed that Samantha had decided not to even take a single penny from them as she is an independent woman.

Soon after her break, many reports claimed that the actress had taken a whopping amount of Rs. 25 crores from a Telugu star for her treatment. “25 crores to treat Myositis!? Someone got you a pretty bad deal. I am glad I am only spending the smallest fraction of that. And, I don’t think I was paid in marbles for all the work I’ve done in my career. So, I can easily take care of myself. Thank you. Myosotis is a condition thousands suffer from. Let’s please be responsible with the information we put out regarding the treatment."

After Samantha and Chaitanya’s separation, reports started circulating that Chaitanya was dating actress, Sobhita Dhulipala. However, Chaitanya’s fans had a different take on his linkup reports. They accused his ex-wife and actress, Samantha Ruth Prabhu of planting fake rumors about him to put him in a bad light. Samantha reacted to the claims made by Chaitanya’s fans in her savage self and advised them to move on. Reacting to the accusations put on her, Samantha tweeted:
“Rumours on girl - Must be true!! Rumours on boy - Planted by girl!! Grow up guys... Parties involved have clearly moved on... you should move on too!! Concentrate on your work… on your families... move on!!"
A few months back, Samantha Ruth Prabhu garnered a lot of attention after she talked about detoxing the liver in one of her podcasts. An X user called out the actress for misleading people by calling random people in the podcast to share critical information on health. Sharing a clip from the podcast, the user wrote:
