She is known for her drop-dead gorgeous looks, exceptional acting talent and her unbeatable fighting spirit, which has already made her an inspiration to many. Fast forward to now, the actress is gearing up to take a six-month-long sabbatical from work, especially to focus on her health. For the unversed, Samantha had been diagnosed with an auto-immune condition called Myositis, and her break from films is just to ensure that she recovers totally from it.
Taking to her IG handle on July 13, 2023, Samantha dropped a picture of herself, along with the filmmaker duo, Raj and DK as well as screenwriter, Sita Menon. The quad looked happy and energetic as they posed for the camera. However, it was Sam’s caption to the post that grabbed attention. Addressing her hiatus from acting, Samantha expressed her views about it and added that it doesn’t seem like a bad thing at all. Moreover, she also extended her thanks to the filmmaker duo for staying with her through thick and thin and never giving up on her. She had written:
“A break doesn’t seem like a bad thing at all when you know what’s coming @rajanddk @mensit The family I didn’t know I needed. Thank you for helping me fight every single battle and never ever giving up on me... I wish more than anything in the world to make you proud... Thank you for the role of a lifetime... i.e until you write me the next.”

Well, as soon as the rumours about Samantha taking a break from her acting surfaced the media, everyone was left worried and unhappy about the same. However, a few days earlier, Samantha’s publicist, Mahendra shed light on the same and highlighted the chances of the actress returning back from the break sooner than expected. The publicist also revealed that the actress had not taken any more projects for the next one year, and will be flying down to the USA for a holistic treatment of Myositis in the fourth week of August.
It was on January 9, 2023, when Samantha made her first public appearance after recovering from the first bout of her auto-immune condition. She looked every bit graceful clad in a white-hued saree. However, the moment she spoke to the audience recalling her struggles with Myositis, the diva broke down inconsolably in tears. Sam revealed that she had to deal with a lot of trolls and criticisms amidst her difficult times, which she slammed shut with her most natural reactions. Thereafter, she added how there were days when she would not wish to step out of her bed and constantly sought reassurance from her mother that she would be okay. In her words:
"I see all of the lows, all the days I didn’t want to get out of bed, I see the crying, I see the constant asking my mom if I’m going to be okay. That’s not superhuman strength. There’s a little girl in there as well, who is weak and wants to get better."
