Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya were once the much-loved couple in the industry. The duo got married back in 2017, and it was in 2021 that they called it quits due to the reasons best known to them. Cut to now, Samantha has been gearing up professionally, while Naga Chaitanya has exchanged rings with his ladylove, Sobhita Dhulipala. Well, did you know that Samantha was planning a baby in August of 2021, while she and Chaitanya announced separation after a few months in October of that year?
Back in 2021, after Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya's divorce announcement, producer, Neelima Guna revealed that the actress was planning to start a family and have a baby that year. In an interview with The News Minute, Neelima shared that when she and her father approached Samantha for the movie, Shaakuntalam, the actress loved the storyline, but she gave a condition.

Neelima said that Samantha clearly stated that she would sign the film, and the shooting must wrap up by July/August of 2021, as she wanted to start a family and become a mother, which would be her first and foremost priority. Neelima said:
"Last year itself, when my father director Gunasekhar garu and I approached Samantha for Shaakuntalam, she loved the story and was very excited by it, but she told us that if she were to accept the role, the shooting should be completed by maximum July/August this year. She informed me that she was planning to start a family and that she wants to become a mother and that it would be her priority."
In the same interview, Neelima added that Samantha was apprehensive about taking the project as the periodic films generally take a lot of time to finalise. The producer added that when she and the entire team assured Samantha that they would be able to complete the shooting within July/August of 2021, she was very happy with the same. Neelima shared that Samantha told her that it would be her last film and that she would take a long break after the same because she wanted to have children and plan her family. Neelima could be quoted as saying:
"As soon as she heard that, she was very happy and onboard this. She told me that this would be her last film and that after this, she wants to take a long break and have children, plan her family. Through the schedules also, we never took a break since we wanted to accommodate this request from her side."

In an interview with Film Companion, six months after her wedding to Naga Chaitanya, Samantha was asked about her plan to have babies. To this, the actress gave an adorable reply. She jokingly revealed that she even put a date for when she wanted to have a baby, and Chaitanya was certain that they would become parents on the same day. She also added that she and Chay have fixed the timeline of when they would have a baby. Samantha said:
"I have put a date as to when I want my baby. The date has been fixed! Like, as if that's going to happen according to the date we have fixed! But Chay seems to be certain that it will happen on the assigned date!. But we have definitely fixed the timeline as to when we want to have a baby."

Going further in the interview, Samantha Ruth Prabhu added that she would want to focus entirely on her baby when she would become a mom and would take a break. The actress shared that she didn't have a rosy childhood. She also mentioned that those who had a rough childhood want to give it all to their children, and so is the case with her as well. She said that whenever she becomes a mom, she would be nowhere but with her child only.
