'I Regret What I Said', Samay Raina Finally Addresses 'India's Got Latent' Controversy, Apologises

Over the past couple of months, the content creator community has been embroiled in heated debates over the controversy surrounding Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India’s Got Latent. Known for its edgy humour, the show hit rock bottom in February 2025 after YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, made an objectionable remark about parental intimacy. The comment triggered nationwide outrage, drawing political attention. Samay Raina has now addressed the controversy, recording his statement with the Maharashtra Cyber Cell and expressing regret over the incident.

On March 24, 2025, after missing multiple summons made over the past month, Samay Raina finally appeared at the Maharashtra Cyber Cell office in Navi Mumbai. The YouTuber was reportedly interrogated for nearly six hours, during which expressed his regret, clarifying that the controversial remarks happened "in the flow of the show". He also mentioned that there was never any intention to hurt anyone’s sentiments. He was quoted as saying:

"I regret what I said, and I am aware that what I said was wrong."

Further, into the questioning, Samay Raina assured the officials that going forward, he would be more mindful of what content was presented to the public. He even promised to take extra caution to ensure such incidents don’t get repeated in the future, understanding the consequences of such actions. He said:

“I did not intend to say what I said. I apologise for whatever happened during the show and will ensure no recurrence.”

The IGL controversy has affected Samay Raina’s career and mental health

India’s Got Latent had occasionally faced public backlash over some of its controversial jokes that didn’t sit well with certain sections of the audience. However, even Samay Raina couldn’t have predicted the situation spiralling out of control the way it did during the episode featuring prominent influencers, Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani.

Addressing the situation, Samay Raina admitted that the controversy not only triggered massive public outrage but also took a serious toll on his career and mental health. The YouTuber, who was in the middle of his Canada tour when the backlash erupted, revealed that the stress affected his performance and he was unable to give his best for the remainder of the tour. What happened in the controversial IGL episode?

For those unaware, India’s Got Latent controversy erupted in February 2025 after podcaster, Ranveer Allahbadia made an obscene remark during an episode of the show. In a disturbing ‘Would You Rather’ question, Ranveer asked a contestant whether he would prefer to watch his parents engage in an intimate act for the rest of his life or join in once to make it stop forever.

The highly inappropriate comment sparked nationwide outrage, leading to multiple FIRs filed against Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and others associated with the show, including Ashish Chanchlani and Apoorva Mukhija. Allahbadia’s remarks were slammed as ‘vulgar,’ with critics saying he had a ‘dirty mind.’ Soon after, celebrities like B Praak and Urvashi Rautela cancelled their appearances on his BeerBiceps podcast.

Following the uproar, Samay Raina cancelled his remaining India tour shows and deleted all episodes of India’s Got Latent from his YouTube channel.
