Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar is currently awaiting the audience's reaction to his recently-released movie, Samrat Prithviraj. The handsome hunk had been on his toes for the past few weeks as he was busy promoting his movie with his co-star, Manushi Chillar. Apart from them, the movie also starred actors, Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood, in the lead roles. Samrat Prithviraj had released in theatres on June 3, 2022, across the nation in three different languages namely Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Written and directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the historical drama is based on the poem, Prithviraj Raso, which was composed by the 12th century poet, Chand Bardai. A hugely-invested project of Yash Raj Films (YRF), the film is based on the life story of the great warrior, Prithviraj Chauhan. The early reviews of the movie, Samrat Prithviraj are out now, let's have a look at the movie review of Akshay's first-period drama.

The film revolves around the life of the last Hindu king, Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan, a character portrayed by Akshay Kumar. The 12th century ruler of Ajmer, Prithviraj had fallen in love with Rajkumari Sanyogita, and the moment she had reciprocated her love towards him, the two had galloped away as he had claimed her to be as his own. Thus Sanyukta's knight in the shining armour had saved her from the wrath of her father, Jaichand. The two-and-a-half hour long movie, Samrat Prithviraj features high-pitched dialogue delivery, elaborate period costumes and many fight scenes. The chief antagonist, Mohammad Ghori played by Manav Vij announces war as he gets triggered by Prithviraj's decision to give refuge to his brother, who had run away with the Sultan's mistress.
Though the film is loosely based on facts, it lacks larger vision and greater integrity. The screenplay was in contrast with the valour and proud journey of the great warrior as it involved a few heroics. The film has a strong starting which featured a fight scene between Akshay and a lion, but the excitement drops after the scene, only to rise in the second half. Moreover, there was no distinct introduction of the protagonist and the antagonist, instead it was more like an array of sequences being played without any build up.
