It was on April 12, 2010, when Indian tennis sensation and World No. 1 doubles player, Sania Mirza and Pakistani cricketer and former captain, Shoaib Malik had said ‘Qubool Hai’ in a private wedding ceremony, blurring the geographical lines between the two nations. Ever since Shoaib and Sania became each other’s forever, they have stood by each other through thick and thin. Despite being blamed for each other’s performances, Sania and Shoaib overcame every obstacle like a perfect team!
But not much is known about Sania Mirza and Shoaib Mirza’s relationship journey and how love blossomed between them. In an interview with India Today, recalling the moment when she had met Shoaib for the first time, Sania stated, “We knew each other socially and then we bumped into each other at a restaurant in Hobart where you don’t even see animals/birds after 6 pm, forget people. Must’ve been destiny that we met over there to be very honest. Only later I realized that he had actually planned to come to the restaurant because I was there. I was giving destiny all the credit but it was clearly not.”
Before Shoaib Malik, Sania Mirza was engaged to her childhood friend, Sohrab Mirza. But eventually, her fate took her to the love of her life, Shoaib. Sania and Sohrab’s marriage was on cards, but unfortunately, they didn’t make it to the aisle. Despite knowing each other for around six years and their families being friends for three generations, Sania and Sohrab’s incompatibility came into the scene post-engagement and they called it off later. Well, as Sania is also a great believer of destiny, it was her fate that brought her to her soulmate, Shoaib. In an interview with Editor-in-Chief of ThePrint, Shekhar Gupta for his show, Walk the Talk, Sania Mirza had talked about the fact that she didn’t want a long courtship with her beau, Shoaib Malik. She had stated, “Yes. A lot of other factors would have made it difficult for us to have a long courtship. We are well known in our countries so it would have been very difficult to keep it under wraps. All kinds of stories start from baseless rumours. Relationships are personal. I didn’t want to read my personal stories in the newspapers, every morning. I mean it’s just not nice when we are all from respectable families. We just started talking about it. I think that’s the most important thing about our relationship. We both were very honest and our thoughts about marriage and companionship matched. We agreed on 95 per cent of things.”

8 years into marital bliss, Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik had embraced parenthood last year in 2018 with the arrival of ‘Baby Mirza Malik’. On October 30, 2018, Shoaib and Sania welcomed their baby boy, Izhaan Mirza Malik and since then, their lives have been revolving around their little munchkin. Reminiscing the first time when she had found that she is pregnant, Sania had stated in a Hindustan Times Brunch interview, “I found out early that I was pregnant, and quite by chance. I remember it was the 25th of February, and the only thing that concerned me immediately was that I had been training like a dog. They say you must be most careful in your first trimester, and I was running so much, it got me a bit worried. Once I knew, I took it easy. I didn’t have as much morning sickness as I’d expected, just a few mood swings. And I kept myself active throughout.” (Also Read: Sania Mirza's Sis, Anam Mirza Enjoys Her Bridal Shower Ahead Of Wedding, Gives Glimpse Of Team Bride)
