Popular actor, Sanjay Dutt opened up about his battle with cancer while filming for one of the biggest blockbusters of his acting career, K.G.F: Chapter 2. In the film, Sanjay had played the character of a gruesome villain, Adheera, who locked horns with the film’s lead protagonist, Rocky, played by Yash. The film was directed by Prashanth Neel during a time when Sanjay was battling cancer.
However, despite such a delicate health situation, the veteran actor had challenged himself and left everyone stunned with his fighting spirit. For the unversed, Sanjay Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer, after which he had taken a break from work. However, after a long treatment, Sanjay was declared cancer-free back in October 2020.

In a heart-to-heart interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Sanjay Dutt opened up about his battle with cancer while he was shooting for K.G.F: Chapter 2. The actor recalled the time when he was filming intense action scenes in the blockbuster movie and revealed how tough it was for him to give her 100 per cent every day on the sets. Sanjay admitted that the film’s director, Prashanth Neel was quite concerned about his health and also advised him to shoot on a green screen. However, he denied the idea stating that he didn’t want to compromise on the film's script. After which, he went on to shoot all the action sequences exactly in the way Prashanth wanted them to be. Sharing the same, he said:
"Prashanth and Yash, everybody there was very-very particular about that I have cancer. They wanted to shoot on a green screen to make it a little easier for me. But I said, listen to the way it was narrated if it was not shot like that, I am not coming to the shoot. So I put my foot down, and when they saw, I could take it. Then we went all out."
Going further in the conversation, Sanjay Dutt also gave important advice to all the cancer patients out there. The actor stated that in order to beat cancer, a patient needs to be mentally strong first. Sanjay emphasised the importance of having a strong mindset while fighting against such an almost unbeatable life-threatening disease. He also told people that instead of hiding that they have cancer, people should consider more the idea of fighting it and telling everyone that they're going to beat cancer. The inner-confidence and belief are everything in a person’s battle against cancer. He said:
"I want to tell all the cancer patients. I am a cancer patient. I didn’t feel anything to say, “Yes, I am a cancer patient.” You know. Log chupate hai. But if you fight it. If you’re strong, if you are mentally strong and if you fight this and you say I will work hard to beat it. You’ll beat it."

In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Shamshera's director, Karan Malhotra also praised the film's lead antagonist, Sanjay Dutt’s fight against cancer while filming for his movie. Revealing how the cast and crew were shocked by the news of his cancer, the filmmaker lauded Sanjay for his unshakable spirit. Karan also talked about the hard work that Sanjay put into each and every shot of the film. The director had said:
"The news that Sanjay sir had been diagnosed with cancer came to all of us like a huge shock. We had no idea about it. He was talking, behaving and working like nothing has happened. I guess that’s why he is where he is today, having conquered this too. Sanjay sir doesn’t let anything get the better of him. He is an inspiration on the sets for everyone."
On the professional front, Sanjay Dutt will be next seen in the film, The Good Maharaja.
