Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been regarded as one of those filmmakers, whose creations on the celluloids are no less than a grand affair. The talented artist has stormed headlines for most of his films, since he not only created some of the most majestic sets for them, but he left no stone unturned to include opulent costumes, iconic songs and memorable dance sequences. Moreover, Sanjay, over the years, has chosen some of the most evergreen actresses to become the muse for his films, those which are remembered even today. One such collaboration which he did was with Madhuri Dixit. For the unversed, the actress was an integral part of his iconic film, Devdas.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali worked with Madhuri Dixit in 2002 for the film, Devdas, and ever since, the filmmaker was in absolute awe of the actress’ beauty. He admired her immensely and was in short, obsessed with her, to the extent that he had left no stone unturned to convince her to work in two of his films, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Khamoshi-The Musical. Previously, in one of his interviews with PTI, Sanjay expressed his dissatisfaction on not being able to convince the actress for these two films and revealed:
“In my every film, right from Khamoshi, I wanted to direct Madhuri. I am obsessed with her. No other director is as obsessed as me about Madhuri. During Khamoshi, I waited for two-and-half years at her door, to ask her to read the script; but I couldn’t get through to her. So I made the film without her. During Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, I tried to rope in Madhuri, but it did not happen. Then I ensured that in Devdas, she was there.”
