Sara Ali Khan, the daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, has never shied away from embracing her spiritual side. She is often seen visiting religious sites and temples like Kedarnath. However, her devotion has not always been met with universal acceptance, as she often receives backlash for visiting Hindu sites despite coming from a family of nawabs. Now, the actress has finally addressed the negativity thrown towards her.
Sara Ali Khan recently attended the Times Now Summit 2025, where she candidly shared various anecdotes from her life. During the conversation, the Kedarnath actress opened up about the public backlash she has had to face for her spiritual choices. Addressing the hate she receives for her temple visits, Sara recalled a defining moment from her childhood. She spoke about how her mother, Amrita Singh, taught her to see beyond religious and caste divisions. Sara shared:
“I was very young, in school, and even when my parents were married and we used to immigrate together abroad, I used to always wonder… Amrita Singh, Saif Pataudi, Sara Sultana, Ibrahim Ali Khan, what is going on? Who are we? And I remember asking my mom, ‘What am I?’ And she told me, ‘You are Indian.’ And I will never forget that.”
Sara Ali Khan is the heir to the legendary Pataudi dynasty and the daughter of a Hindu mother. She has grown up with a secular belief that also emphasises India's identity. In her discussion, Sara explained:
“We are a secular nation, and I think that all these concepts, all these boundaries are made and manipulated by people, and I don’t adhere to them. I just don’t give it the importance that the other person maybe does.”
Despite being in the industry for a few years and being used to occasional trolling, at the end of the day, Sara is a human being. The actress admitted that those criticisms get to her at times, but she has now learned how to tune them out. Sara also opened up about her trip to Kedarnath, emphasising her personal spirituality. She explained:
“My personal trip to Kedarnath, with all due respect to anybody who likes it, who hates it—it’s not about any of you. It’s about me. And I feel comfortable there, I feel peaceful there, I feel happy there.”
On the work front, Sara is on a roll with multiple projects lined up. She was recently seen in the patriotic drama, Ae Watan Mere Watan, based on freedom fighter Usha Mehta. She also starred alongside Akshay Kumar in Sky Force and is currently filming a spy comedy under Dharma Productions with Ayushmann Khurrana. Up next, Sara will appear in Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino and an untitled romantic comedy with Sidharth Malhotra.
