Sara Ali Khan is one of the popular names in the industry. She comes from a family where her preceding generations have been associated with showbiz. Sara is the daughter of popular Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and his former wife, Amrita Singh. She is also the granddaughter of veteran actress, Sharmila Tagore. But did you know Sara is also related to the legendary actor, Dilip Kumar? It is not just a new revelation for us but for the actress as well.

Sara Ali Khan says she did not know about being a relative of the legendary actor, Dilip Kumar

Recently, Sara sat for an interview on Midday’s talk show, Sit With Hitlist and spoke about various facets of her life. During the conversation, the interviewer talked about her impressive family tree and shared that she is a distant relative of the late Dilip Kumar from her mother’s side. As per the interviewer, Sara’s maternal grandmother, Rukhsana Sultana’s sister, Begum Para was married to Nasir Khan. The latter was one of the siblings of Muhammad Yusuf Khan, a.k.a. Dilip Kumar. After getting to know about this, Sara reacted to it and said:

“I didn’t know this! I am Dilip Kumar’s relative? I am a relative of Dilip Kumar, and I love it!”

Sara Ali Khan talks about her maternal grandmother, Rukhsana Sultana

In the same conversation, the host asked Sara about her maternal grandmother, Rukhsana Sultana, who used to be a prominent name in Delhi’s political circle. The actress shared that she doesn’t have any recollection regarding her as she passed away when Sara was just nine months old. In her words:

“You know my grandmother passed away when I was nine months old, so I actually know nothing but just tremendous love.”

When asked if she knew about any stories related to her late maternal grandmother, Sara denied knowing any. However, the starlet shared that she knew Rukhsana Sultana to be someone who was very fond of bold red lipstick and lovely sunglasses. Sara further added that her maternal grandmother used to be a healthy person, who would practice yoga. Sharing that she would have loved to spend her time with her nani, Sara said:

“Not really, I just know that she always had red lipstick and she had these lovely sunglasses. She used to do yoga, and she was a healthy person. She loved Paris and history and culture which just makes me feel a lot of FOMO (fear of missing out) because I think I would have really enjoyed and appreciated growing up with somebody like that. Also, it would have given my mom a lot more support because she has done it all alone. That’s all I really feel.”

During the same conversation, the interviewer said that Sara is also a relative of Sir Sobha Singh, who is credited with constructing New Delhi. Hence, she is also related to the popular writer, Khushwant Singh, who has written Train To Pakistan. The latter is Sobha Singh’s son. Sara Ali Khan’s maternal grandmother, Rukhsana Sultana, was married to Shavinder Singh, nephew of Khushwant Singh.
