The effervescent Bengali beauty, Sharmila Tagore had created a niche for herself in Hindi and Bengali cinema. Born in the prominent Tagore family, Sharmila had made her acting debut at the age of 14, and since then, there was no looking back for this iconic diva. With power-packed performances in movies like Waqt, Anupama, An Evening in Paris, Aradhana, Amar Prem, Chupke Chupke and many more, Sharmila's charm has always been unmatched.
Sharmila Tagore got married to the legend of Indian cricket, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, in 1969. She is a proud mother of three wonderful children, Saif Ali Khan, Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan, a loving mother-in-law to Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kunal Kemmu, and a doting grandmother of five adorable grandchildren, Sara Ali Khan, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Taimur Ali Khan, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu and Jehangir Ali Khan.

On December 8, 2021, Sharmila turned 77, and her granddaughter, Sara Ali Khan penned a heartmelting wish for her. Sara took to her IG handle and shared beautiful pictures with her Badi Amma, Sharmila, and wrote:
"Happiest Birthday Badi Amma. I love you so much. Thank you for always being here for us and being a constant pillar of support. Inshallah I hope that I can always make you proud. #grandmother #inspiration #graceful #beautiful #iconic."
Sharmila Tagore's 77th birthday had begun with a beautiful wish from her daughter-in-law, Kareena Kapoor Khan as she had penned an 'iconic' birthday wish for her. On her IG stories, Kareena had shared an old monochrome picture of Sharmila from one of her films and had called her saasu maa ‘beautiful’. Sharing the picture, Kareena had written atop it:

On the other hand, Sharmila Tagore’s daughter, Saba Ali Khan Pataudi took to her IG stories to wish her mother on her birthday. She posted a framed picture of Sharmila from her wedding on her IG stories and wrote, “The light of my life… Love you lots! Amma 12 am 8.12.21” and added a ‘Happy Birthday’ sticker atop it. She also shared a video on her IG handle, comprising some of Sharmila’s most treasured pictures and captioned it as:
“MA.... You reflect inner BEAUTY, GRACE becomes YOU. Keep shining...! HAAPPY Birthday! Lots of Love...always!”
Sharmila Tagore is known for her unconventional choices on the professional front. The Bengali beauty had created history in August 1966 with her first-ever bikini shoot for a magazine and a film. It is said that it was Sharmila Tagore, who became a pioneer of the bikini trend with her bold photoshoot. It was then followed by her contemporaries in the film industry. She had unleashed her bold side wearing a sky-blue coloured one-piece swimsuit in her film, An Evening In Paris, and a black bikini for the cover of the Filmfare magazine. Back then, it was indeed a brave move.
