Savitri Jindal is the richest woman in India, with a staggering net worth of Rs. 3.5 lakh crore. Despite being the wealthiest woman in India and constantly competing with Mukesh Ambani and Gautam Adani, Savitri Jindal is still not as popular as her contemporaries. The reason behind it is her simplicity and her decision to live a humble life away from the spotlight. Savitri's journey from being a housemaker to leading one of the biggest steel companies in India is perfect for a biographical drama.
For the uninitiated, Savitri Jindal is Chairperson Emeritus of the OP Jindal Group, which gives her the power to control all the companies under the leading conglomerate. Some of the renowned companies under the OP Jindal Group include Jindal Steel & Power, JSW Energy, Jindal Saw, Jindal Stainless, JSW Holdings, and JSW Steel.
Besides being a billionaire businesswoman, Savitri Jindal is also renowned for being a successful politician. One can understand the stature of her popularity in Haryana's Hisar region from the fact that she had beaten BJP MLA, Kamal Gupta and Congress candidate, Ram Niwas Rana by a margin of 18,941 votes in 2024 Haryana Elections.
Savitri Jindal has also served as Haryana's disaster and revenue management minister. Interestingly, Savitri's son, Naveen Jindal is a BJP MP from the Kurukshetra constituency. According to multiple reports, the Chairperson Emeritus of the OP Jindal Group, Savitri Jindal never went to college. The billionaire business tycoon completed her schooling at a small school in Assam. It's incredible the way she has transformed OP Jindal Group in a span of just two years, after her husband, Om Prakash Jindal's untimely demise. After Om Prakash Jindal's death, industry experts had clearly stated that his wife, Savitri will fail in leading such a huge conglomerate. However, she proved them wrong, and as of now, OP Jindal Group is among the leading names in India's steel market.
Moving on to the next chapter of Savitri Jindal's life is the unfortunate death of her husband, Om Prakash Jindal, which shocked the entire nation. For the uninitiated, Om Prakash Jindal founded OP Jindal Group in 1952, and within a short period of time, he managed to make it one of India's leading steel companies. Courtesy of his strong presence in the Indian steel market, he also became a renowned figure in Haryana's Hisar and served as the Minister of Power back in 2005.
Unfortunately, on March 31, 2005, Om Prakash Jindal died in a helicopter crash when he was on his way to Delhi for a political meeting. It was a massive challenge for Savitri, but she turned her haters into believers with her intelligence.
