The Badshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, has lent his voice to the character, 'Mufasa' in the highly anticipated Walt Disney Studios release, Mufasa: The Lion King . A promotional video for the movie was released to YouTube on November 27, 2024, featuring the star. And Shah Rukh does more than simply narrate the story of the iconic character. He also reflects on the similarities between his life and 'Mufasa's' journey.

Fans of the OG Lion King movies remember it as being the story of 'Simba' learning to face his past, accepting responsibility, and putting the needs of others first. Now, they will get the opportunity to dive into the story of 'Simba's' father, 'Mufasa,' which is one of struggle, resilience, and ultimate victory. In the promotional video released by Disney, Shah Rukh Khan gives fans a glimpse of what they can expect.

Along with that, the star, fondly known as King Khan, remarked about his journey to stardom being similar to 'Mufasa's' rise to kingship. In Shah Rukh Khan's words:

“This is the story of a king who did not get the light of politics, but inherited loneliness. But his lips were full of his passion, and with that passion he rose from the earth and touched the sky. Many kings have ruled over the earth, and he ruled over the hearts of all. This story is quite similar or not (the points themselves) but this is the story of Mufasa.”

Mufasa: The Lion King is a Khan family affair with Shah Rukh and his sons, Aryan and AbRam, featured in the film 

The Hindi trailer for Mufasa: The Lion King was released by the makers on November 20, 2024. Interestingly, the film is a family affair, and no, we're not referring to it being a kids' movie. For the unversed, Mufasa: The Lion King is a collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and his sons, Aryan and AbRam.

While Shah Rukh voices the main character, 'Mufasa,' Aryan lends his voice to 'Simba,' and AbRam breathes life into a young 'Mufasa.' In order to up the regional appeal, a Telugu-dubbed version of the film will be released featuring superstar Mahesh Babu as the voice of 'Mufasa,' while renowned actor, Arjun Das voices the role in the Tamil dub.

Shah Rukh Khan's struggle to stardom following his parents' untimely demise

Speaking about Bollywood's Badshah, he is a self-made star in the truest sense. Shah Rukh Khan lost his father, Mir Taj Mohammed Khan , to cancer in 1981 when he was just a teenager. Not long after, his mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, passed away due to diabetes complications in 1991 when the actor was 24. These incidents occurred before Shah Rukh had made his Bollywood debut, but he was determined not to give up. At the Global Freight Summit in Dubai, the star opened up about what motivated him to keep going and said:

"So I started working very hard, I became very determined to be successful because I didn't want my parents to feel bad that they've not fended for me. So it's a very strange way to look at things. But I knew they "shouldn't feel that way."
