In the world of uncertain relationships, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan have been reinstating our faith in the institution of marriage for the past three decades. The couple, who has been acing their marriage, faced lots of ups and downs before getting married. Shah Rukh was just 18 when he met Gauri for the first time at a party. Bowled over by her beauty, Shah Rukh could not resist asking her for a dance, and the rest is history.
However, Gauri’s parents were at first totally against their relationship, since SRK belonged to a different religion, and was also merely a budding actor. Nevertheless, they never lost hope, and Shah Rukh was finally able to win them over. He even posed as a Hindu boy to impress Gauri’s parents. The duo got married on October 25, 1991, in a Hindu marriage ceremony.

In a throwback interview, Shah Rukh Khan revealed how he pranked his in-laws on his and Gauri’s wedding day. The actor called her family old-fashioned people and said that he respects them and their beliefs. Recalling a funny incident of how he pranked Gauri’s family, SRK stated that in that old-fashioned reception, all of them were sitting there when I came in at 1:15 a.m., and everyone was whispering that he was a Muslim boy. Will he change the girl’s name? Will she become Muslim?
Shah Rukh recalled how all the conversations were happening in Punjabi, and suddenly he looked at the time and said Ok Gauri, put on your burkha and let’s read the namaaz now. As soon as SRK said those words, Gauri’s whole family stared at him and wondered if he had already changed her. At that moment, he took the fun to the next level by telling her family that she would remain in burkha and would never leave the house.

In 1994, Shah Rukh Khan starred in the romantic comedy film, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, along with Deepak Tijori and Suchitra Krishnamoorthy. And since Shah Rukh Khan was newly married, his wife, Gauri would often visit the set to spend time with him. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra Krishnamoorthy revealed witnessing Shah Rukh and Gauri’s love for each other on the set. Revealing how he would treat her on the set, Suchitra recalled:
“We were witnessing it on the set with Gauri. The way he was with Gauri, he used to be like she is made of rose petals, you know the way he used to treat her. It was just so beautiful.”
Shah Rukh and Gauri are proud parents to three adorable kids, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan.
