Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most humble actors in the industry. Despite attaining such a height on his professional front, he never misses a chance to express his gratitude towards the contributions made by his parents and co-workers in his life. Time and again, the superstar also keeps opening up about the various roles played by his parents in his journey towards immense success.
Recently, Shah Rukh Khan was honoured with a prestigious award at the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. After the ceremony, the 58-year-old sat down for a Q&A session with the artistic director, Giona A Nazzaro, at the Spazio Cinema Forum. During his candid conversation, he responded to multiple questions from his fans on the foreign land.

Shah Rukh Khan then recalled the time when his late mother, Lateef Fatima Khan, took him to watch his first movie in a cinema hall. The star stated that he was in his school at that time. And Hindi wasn’t his strongest subject. Hence, talking about his mother's condition, he said:
"In school, Hindi (language) was not my strongest point. My mom said, 'I'll take you to a movie hall to watch a film if you get 10 on 10 in Hindi dictation'. I think I copied one answer from a friend, but I did get 10 on 10, and then my mother took me to watch a film in a theatre for the first time."
Like everyone, SRK was also excited to see the first movie in a cinema hall. In the same conversation, the actor revealed that it was veteran filmmaker, Yash Chopra's directorial 1973 thriller, Joshila, with whom he ended up working in several films. Recalling the same, SRK shared:
"It was called 'Joshila', which was of the director with whom I did maximum number for my films later on in my life. So life is connected. Mr. Yash Chopra, it was his film. I'm sitting here in Locarno, Switzerland because of him, because of that movie I saw."

Coincidentally, the filmmaker's film, which Shah Rukh saw in the cinema hall for the first time in his life, played a significant role in his acting career. For the unknown, it was Yash Chopra with whom Shah Rukh ended up doing the maximum number of films of his career later in life. The actor was seen in Yash Chopra's Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, Veer Zaara, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, and many more. Not only this, Shah Rukh also worked with veteran filmmaker’s son, Aditya Chopra, in his directorial debut film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and many others.

Shah Rukh also talked about his bonds with his parents, who left for their heavenly abode when the actor was just a teenager. Thus, during the same conversation at the 77th Locarno Film Festival, he stated that when they left him, he wanted to leave his hometown, New Delhi, to get some roles or work in the acting industry. He shared:
"I thought, I'll get some roles. Then I thought I'd work in front of television, then I came into films, so I got little bits and pieces roles. And then one thing led to the other."
Shah Rukh Khan came to Mumbai in 1990, thinking he would work for a year, earn Rs. 1 lakh, buy himself a house, and return to his hometown to become a scientist or mass communication journalist. However, God had different plans for him, and he kept getting one after the other works, and the rest became history. He added:
"I came to Mumbai for a year in 1990 and I said, 'I'll work for a year, earn Rs 1 lakh, buy myself a house, and then go back and become a scientist or a mass communication journalist. And, I hadn't gone back yet."
