Shah Rukh Khan is known as the King Khan of Bollywood. He has worked in back-to-back blockbuster films and is immensely loved by his millions of fans worldwide. Their on-screen romance with actresses and lovely gestures for them has become an inspiration for real-life couples, and they are also highly followed. Besides playing such romantic roles, Shah Rukh was also seen in a few negative roles in films like Darr, Baazigar, and Anjaam. But after this, he has stayed away from negative roles.
Now, Shah Rukh Khan received the Indian of the Year 2023 award at an event and delivered a heartfelt speech dedicated to his massive fanbase. During his acceptance speech, he also discussed playing villainous roles in films. At the News18 event, the legendary actor revealed his responsibilities in society and mentioned how people get inspired by his actions and sweet little gestures on-screen. Thus, talking along the same lines, he mentioned what he would do if he were given the chance to play the role of an antagonist.

In the same conversation, Shah Rukh revealed that if he gets the chance to play the role of an antagonist in his life, once again, he will ensure that the character suffers a lot. Explaining the reason behind it, he mentioned that, according to him, the badness should deserve a kick in the back. However, with this revelations, SRK seemingly took a subtle dig at Ranbir Kapoor starrer film, Animal, which got huge criticism worldwide due to glorifying violence and misogyny on-screen. Shah Rukh said:
“I am a guy who is hopeful and tells happy stories. The heroes I play do good things, they give hope and happiness. If I play a bad guy, I make sure he suffers a lot, he dies a dog’s death, because I believe goodness begets goodness. And I believe badness deserves a kick in the back side. I should play honest roles that give people courage to dream. I should keep working hard quietly with the hope that life doesn’t topple my apple cart anytime soon.”
Ranbir Kapoor is one such actor from the successive generations following Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan, who has come a long way since, delivering some memorable performances on the silver screen. Moreover, he has repeatedly talked about paving his own path without any such competition from the other men in the industry. Once in one of his previous interviews, Ranbir had also claimed that he never competed with any other actor from his generation. However, he mentioned having competition with senior actors, especially Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

Soon after Ranbir's statement was hugely circulated in the media, in an interview with CNN-IBN, Shah Rukh Khan was asked about his reaction to such a statement made by a young actor. To this, SRK clearly stated how he is here in the film industry and doesn’t have a godfather backing him. Moreover, taking a dig at Ranbir’s backing of an established film family, SRK shared how he does not have someone behind him to give that extra push. Warning any and all of his competitors not to mess with him, Shah Rukh had mentioned:
“I don’t have any competition. I’d be very honest. I don’t say that with immodesty or self-centred pompousness. I don’t have any competition. I have not come here to compete, I have come here to rule. And I believe that when I wake up in the morning. I don’t want it to be the universal truth. When an actor or an actress turns around and says I want to beat Shah Rukh Khan. Bring it on. That’s absolutely alright. But personally I would say, ‘don’t mess with this’. You do your job, be nice.”
On the work front, Shah Rukh also got a hattrick success in 2023 with his films, including YRF's Pathaan, Atlee's Jawan, and Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki, which made a huge uproar in the box-office.
