Given the substantial age difference between them, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput’s wedding did raise eyebrows in 2015. However, over the years, ShaMira (as fans fondly call Shahid and Mira) have proved that no pin code, age, social status, religion or caste matter, when one is in love. For the Vogue Wedding Book 2019, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor let their fans into their world and take us on their journey of how they first met, marriage and kids, Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor. Shahid and Mira now share a natural understanding, as she knows when to step back and he knows when to give her the spotlight. Stepping into the role of star wife, Mira never considered herself as a ‘fangirl’, “I’ve never been into movies, which I think was a good thing because following that first chat, when we actually got to know each other, it was for who we are…not for who others think we are. He was just off Kaminay and very scruffy!”
When Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput had tied the knot in 2015, apart from age difference (she was 21, he was 35), their distinct backgrounds and cities was a matter of consternation too. Mira explained, “I really didn’t think about it as so many challenges to overcome. The change from Delhi to Mumbai was actually a very pleasant one. I love South Bombay! In fact, we celebrated our anniversary with a meal at The Table in Colaba.” She continued, “I’ve also picked up on the way of life and way of dressing here… The first time I wore a pair of ripped jeans was after I got married! His fluidity towards life is another quality I love. It’s helped me ease up a lot. He’s lived longer, so if anything, I can benefit from his experience, and he can benefit from my fresh perspective.”
Speaking about their initial days parading a new partnership, Shahid Kapoor informed, “We’ve gone to parties where I’ve known many more people than she has. But I’ve always found her having more intense conversations with people she’s met less than half an hour ago!” Early on into their relationship, Shahid had thought it would be a good idea for her to watch Udta Punjab (2016). Shahid narrated, “We sat together on a sofa and somewhere around the interval she had moved five feet away to the other edge. She looked at me and said, ‘You’re not this guy, right? Is this guy anywhere inside you? Tell me now while I can still walk away!’” (Also Read: Unseen Pictures Of Mira Rajput Having A Gala Time With The 'Girl Squad' At Her Wedding With Shahid)
Shahid Kapoor feels that his wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor always keeps it real. Where otherwise Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput Kapoor are chalk and cheese as he’s into German techno, she likes Indie pop, when it comes to bringing up kids, Misha Kapoor and Zain Kapoor, they are a team. Roles are perfectly cut out as Mira is the disciplinarian and Shahid is the softy. Shahid explained, “Our kids are the first two projects we actually did together. One year into an arranged marriage, when you haven’t spent enough time together [earlier], you really evolve around each other.”
Sharing that Shahid Kapoor had promised her renewing their wedding vows, Mira Rajput Kapoor remarked, “He’s promised me we’re going to do it again!” Recalling his favourite moment from the wedding, Shahid said, “The Anand Karaj ceremony was my favourite moment from the wedding. It was just a room full of our people, celebrating us, perfect strangers who were going to take this insane journey together. Even though it’s just been four years, a large part of who I am has been formed since the day we got married. We were relieved! The formalities were over, and we could now start sharing our lives.”
Talking about the first step when they moved into their new home was to divide up closet space, Mira Rajput Kapoor said, “I obviously took the one with the drawers!” To which, Shahid Kapoor pitched, “And now our house is constantly under renovation for more storage space.” (Also Read: Shahid Kapoor And Mira Rajput Kapoor's Sea-Facing Duplex Worth 56 Crore Is Ready To Move In, Details)
