Shahid Kapoor's wife, Mira Rajput Kapoor, made headlines when she tied the knot with the actor in 2015. While people were in awe of Mira's looks and style, some didn't like why she chose to settle down at the age of twenty. Amidst a sea of opinions, Mira carefully sailed her ship and made a place in the hearts of fans as a content creator. However, there was a time when Mira landed in trouble when she was defending herself and, in a gist, stated how her daughter is not a 'puppy' whom she can leave at home.
However, Mira's comment wasn't taken well by a section of women who work hard to give their kids a better future. In a recent interview with Film Companion, Mira Kapoor revealed that she got married and had kids at a young age. She added that she chose to become a homemaker, and while it may not generate income, it is still considered work, as stay-at-home moms or dads are the ones holding the fort.

Recalling her past statement that received hate, Mira revealed that people started 'questioning' her for staying at home. She shared that people called her approach conservative because she was a modern-day girl. They pushed her into the corner. Mira added that back then, she felt it was 'unfair' as it was her choice. She wanted to spend time with her kids, and she wanted to do justice to her roles as a mother and a wife. It doesn't mean she lacked ambition.
Further, Mira stated that while being judged, she acted out by saying things she didn't agree with right now. Mira, who recently became an entrepreneur with her skincare brand, Akind, revealed that she has come a long way, and now, she understands why people have retaliated. She added that she was trying to defend herself. Mira was quoted as saying:
"I probably acted out by saying things that I don’t think I agree with them right now. I think I have come a long way from that, and I can understand why it wasn’t taken well. I can understand why people must have felt what I did. I think I was in a very vulnerable emotional space. I was trying to defend myself."

Mira added that she regrets making the 'puppy' comment and hurting people's sentiments. However, she wanted to show the world that there are many other ways to approach life. Mira added that now that her kids are older, they are excited to see her work and point out whenever they see her on billboards.
It was in 2017 when Mira shared her side of the story and revealed that her daughter, Misha, is not a puppy, whom she can leave at home and rush back to work. She received a lot of flak, and it was her husband, Shahid, who defended her. During a press conference, Shahid stated that Mira was speaking for a section of women who aren't represented. He said:
"I think Mira is speaking for a section of women who really aren't being represented. There are times when those women feel that they should not be celebrated. By that I mean women who might not be doing a job, who might choose to be at home, have a baby, take care of the baby and consider that important enough to do at a certain stage in your life."
