Shalini Pandey is an Indian actress who has worked in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films. She debuted in the Telugu film industry with a 2017 romantic drama, Arjun Reddy. She then expanded to Hindi films with the 2022 comedy-drama, Jayeshbhai Jordaar and was last seen in the 2024 historical drama, Maharaj along with debutant, Junaid Khan.
Shalini Pandey has captivated the audience after her standout role in Maharaj with Junaid Khan. She recently revealed that she is frequently compared to B-town actress, Alia Bhatt, especially when it comes to her voice and looks. Shalini revealed that these comments initially irritated her, as she wanted to have individuality and wanted to be recognised for her own merits. However, she shared that now she has become more accepting of these comparisons.
Shalini Pandey sat for a candid chat with Bollywood Hungama. She was accompanied by several other celebrities, including Ananya Pandey, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Triptii Dimri. The actress shared her thoughts on the subject and revealed that while she once used to feel frustrated by the comparisons she was now at ease with them. She said:
"Earlier, I used to get a little irritated not because, like, I love Alia, but like, when you are getting compared to someone, you are like, 'no, I am my own, so I was like, no, see me for who I am.'"
Shalini Pandey shared that even though she wants to maintain her individuality, her perspective has changed when it comes to the comparisons between her and Alia Bhatt. She revealed that she now feels that the comparisons are sweet. She added that she likes Alia and is more comfortable with the comparisons now. She was quoted saying:
"Now I feel that it’s sweet yaar, I like her, I don’t get irritated anymore so now I am comfortable with it."
Shalini Pandey was born in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh on September 23, 1993. She worked as a theatre artist before making her acting debut in the 2017 hit, Arjun Reddy. The actress co-starred in the film opposite Vijay Deverakonda. Her role as 'Dr. Preethi Shetty' garnered abundant praise and made her a popular name in the Telugu film fraternity.

Shalini further explored Hindi cinema and was seen in the role of 'Mudra Patel' alongside Ranveer Singh in Divvyang Thakkar's Jayeshbhai Jordaar in 2022. The film focused on equality in society. While it did not perform well at the box office, it helped her gain attention. Shalini returned to Hindi cinema after a two-year hit with the Netflix special Maharaj, as 'Kishori' opposite Aamir Khan's son, Junaid Khan.
