Sham Kaushal is a veteran stunt director and a proud dad to Sunny and Vicky Kaushal, two sons who have broken into the Bollywood scene. However, the duo's journey in Indian cinema hasn't always been easy, and recently, their father got candid about it. Sham revealed that he was the one who recommended Vicky's name to directors. This revelation sparked the nepotism debate all over again.
Sham Kaushal recently sat for a talk session with Friday Talkues, wherein he shared that Vicky sat him down and said that he wants to become an accountant. After this, he told his son to start auditioning and looking for work. However, as luck had its way, Sham met Anurag Kashyap as he was to direct the action scenes in Gangs Of Wasseypur. He asked Anurag that his son wanted to intern in films and if he had any such vacancy. Anurag Kashyap readily agreed and asked him to send his son to meet him.
Sham Kaushik added that after getting the scope, Vicky went to meet Anurag Kashyap, and he got assigned as an AD (Assistant Director) in films. Later, Anurag Kashyap launched Vicky Kaushal in the film and gave him a big break in the film Masaan.
Soon after Sham Kaushal's revelations, fans started to question Vicky's outsider claims. One user wrote, "Sham Kaushal is India's no. 1 action director. He pretty much works with every top director, and you were expecting his son to struggle??? No one would launch him, but his dad can at least get him a meeting with the directors." While another penned, "Vicky Kaushal and Ranveer Singh just pretend to be one and keep selling overexaggerated stories of struggle to gain sympathy and PR points."

Sham Kaushal firmly stated that he had always ensured that his sons, Sunny and Vicky, prioritised their education. The stunt coordinator had hoped that doing so would help his kids develop a sense of discipline and a hardworking spirit. For this reason, both Sunny and Vicky were enrolled in 'normal schools.'
However, much to Sham's surprise, Sunny and Vicky, with a deep respect for their father's profession, expressed a desire to work in the film industry. According to the doting dad, he felt he couldn't forbid them from pursuing a career in acting as he was earning a living from the same industry. Sham said:
"I couldn't say no because I was earning from the same industry. I thought someone might offer them tea out of respect for me, but nobody would invest crores in a film with them. However, since I also came from a village and worked hard, I believed that if they stayed honest and put in effort, they would not be denied."
