Sharmin Segal has been helming the headlines after her stint in her mama, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut OTT project, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The 28-year-old portrayed the role of ‘Alamzeb’ in the series. While audiences loved the performances of the other cast members, people criticised Sharmin’s expressionless acting in Heeramandi. Moreover, the backlash that the actress received in the past two months since the release of the series on Netflix was not just limited to her acting. She was brutally trolled for her demeanour in the promotional interviews as well.
On June 27, 2024, Sharmin took to her Instagram account and shared a few glimpses from her recent trip to Italy with her husband, Aman Mehta. She posted a series of various picturesque glimpses of nature and herself from her trip. In the first picture, Sharmin posed for the lens wearing a pretty red dress. Some glimpses captured the scenic beauty of the country and the delicious food that it offers. Meanwhile, in one of the pictures, Sharmin was seen on a floaty in a pool.

“Ek baar break lijiye, ice cream kha lijiye, swimming karne ko hai tayyar hum, neela neela pani dikha dijiye.”
By posting such a quirky caption on her Instagram, Sharmin seemingly took a jibe at those who had been consistently trolling her for her performance in Heeramandi. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old has still kept her comment section disabled and has now hidden the number of likes on her post as well.

Sharmin debuted in the Hindi film industry as an actress with the 2019 film, Malaal, alongside Meezan Jafri. While her first film failed to create an impression on the audience, Sharmin’s second on-screen performance as ‘Alamzeb’ made her a household name, although for all the wrong reasons. During a conversation with India Today, the 28-year-old actress shared how her interviews were taken out of context. Sharing her thoughts on the interaction where she called her Heeramandi co-star, Aditi Rao Hydari, “a school girl,” Sharmin mentioned:
“Things are being taken out of context to the point where they are trying to make me look like a disrespectful person to my co-stars or arrogant or rude, which is not the equation I share with any of my co-stars.”
