Shilpa Saklani became famous when she appeared in Ekta Kapoor's super hit serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. She had gained overnight success. However, Shilpa has received a lot of hate comments from aunties, who put her on a pedestal and hailed her as one of the 'sanskari bahu' of 'Tulsi Virani' (the name of the protagonist in the show).
Recently, Shilpa Saklani, who has turned Vlogger with her husband, Apurva Agnihotri, for their YouTube channel, Awesome Agnihotris, revealed how she bagged the role of 'Ganga' in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi in her latest Vlog. Shilpa revealed that her debut show, Ek Tukda Chaand Ka got over when she received a call from Balaji for a project.

Shilpa revealed that during the narration, she realised that her character was introduced as the bahu of the new generation in the show. She revealed she was on the show the next day as 'Ganga' while others were giving auditions. Shilpa further added that the moment her episode was telecasted, the next day she got mobbed by people and they all knew her.
Shilpa further added that she had gone through a lot of abuse from the aunties. Back then, they would come screaming at her for her choice of clothing. Shilpa shared aunties would point it out and say don't wear such clothes. She was quoted as saying:
"Our life's trajectory changed after the show. Forget logon ka pehchanna. Gaaliyaan bhi kaafi mili hai. Aunties would scream seeing me, 'Arre what are you wearing? You are Ganga.' I had to make them understand that I am Shilpa in real life. It was a big problem, aunties would scold me, 'Tum aise kapde pehen ke mat ghumo tum Ganga ho.'"

On the personal front, Shilpa is currently enjoying her motherhood phase with her five-month-old daughter, Ishani Agnihotri.
