Shruti Sharma won millions of hearts with her role as 'Saima' in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Her simplicity, elegance, and singing skills etched a beautiful place in her fans' minds. However, talking about her professional front, Shruti made her acting debut with the television series, Gathbandhan in 2019. Ahead of that, she was seen as a contestant on the reality show, India's Next Superstars in 2018. Afterward, Shruti entered the film business with the Telegu movie, Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya in 2019. Following this, she was seen in the Hindi film, Pagglait, released in 2021, and also worked on her first International project with Abu Dhabi Television.
Now, in an interview with Entertainment Live, Shruti Sharma revealed her experience of working with the acclaimed director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. Well, talking about Saima's role, she is seen as a special maid of 'Mallikajaan’s (Manisha Koirala) daughter, 'Alamzeb' (Sharmin Segal). However, the series director did true justice to each of the characters, and although Shruti was seen as a maid, she too, was given proper screen space. She was seen mesmerising the audiences with her melodious voice and even her romantic side alongside sacrifice for her master was shown greatly in the series.

In the same conversation, Shruti talked highly about her experience of working with Sanjay. Then, she was also asked about the romantic scene between her and Rajat Kaul, who played 'Iqbal' (Mallikajaan’s cart driver). In the scene, the two of them converse while getting involved romantically. However, the entire thing was done in a horse stable, and they had to roll on a cart filled with dried hay grass.
Talking about the same, Shruti shared that the intimate scene between her and Rajat Kaul was shot for a whole day. Thus, after the filming, she had rashes on her body, and her kajal was smudged with dust and dirt. However, still, the scene holds a special place in her heart. Shruti said:
“There is a scene involving me and Iqbal in which we are romantic, meaning its a very romantic scene. That type of romance I had done for the first time on the screen. We were rolling and we were talking, and you know it was difficult choreography, we were on top of each other. I got rashes on my body because it was so harsh. I think we shot that scene for on whole day and when that scene got over, my kajal was smudged because there was dust and dirt. But the scene looks so beautiful.”

For the unversed, in the series, Shruti and Rajat were also seen getting involved with each other in a clandestine affair. In that particular scene, Shruti seduces her on-screen partner in the horse shed. However, when asked about the same in an interview with Pinkvilla, Shruti supported Sanjay Leela Bhansali for keeping such a scene. Adding more to it, she had said:
“If Sanjay sir has decided something, he is wise enough to choose his actors. I’m sure it is quite well thought out. You can’t question his vision. He has given history to Indian cinema. It is Sanjay Sir that we’re talking about.”
