Shubman Gill is among the most celebrated young talents in the Indian cricket team. Based on his performance, the 24-year-old cricketer was shortlisted for the T20 World Cup standby team and even traveled to the USA with the team. He, along with Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Khaleel Ahmed, are on standby, but unlike the other, Subhman was never seen on the field, cheering for his team when they played matches. And, now it seems like all is not well between Shubman Gill, the management, and Rohit Sharma.
In a recent turn of events, Shubman Gill shocked everyone as he unfollowed Rohit Sharma in IG. The duo had quite an endearing friendship, and this step of Shubman raised many questions about the inside equations of the Indian cricket team. Moreover, due to disciplinary issues, Shubman Gill was also sent back to India after being released from the team.

Shubman Gill traveled with the team from India to the United States of America, but allegedly, he was busy with his personal work and was not contributing to the team. As a result, Shubman Gill was released from the team and sent back to India along with Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan. Only Rinku Singh has been retained.
However, a source close to the young batter confirmed that Gill's early departure was not due to disciplinary issues. The team management doesn't require a backup opener for the remaining tournament, which is why Shubman was released. But the unfollowing fiasco says otherwise. The source further added:
“There was very little gap between games for any extensive practice. So it was decided by the management to release the two players as matches are literally back to back and there is very little scope for marathon practice sessions to happen. Khaleel is already there to ensure the left-arm variety in nets if needed.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly made travel arrangements for Gill and Avesh, and they are unlikely to travel to the ground for India’s last group-stage game vs Canada, which is on June 15, 2024. Only the squad of 15 is allowed to be in the dugout/change room. Even in the game with Pakistan in New York, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh, and Rinku Singh were cheering for the side from the stands but Shubman was missing.
