For a second, no one could believe their eyes and had hoped that the news turned out to be false. But it was confirmed when we had seen the visuals of police van and ambulance parked outside his building on social media. They demanded CBI inquiry into his mysterious death case, and after a wait for 65 days, the case was finally given to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Later, the drug angle in SSR's case came out and the actor's girlfriend, Rhea Chakraborty had gotten arrested for the same. In this difficult fight for justice, one person that stood like rock is Sushant's former girlfriend, Ankita Lokhande. She was the first one, who had gone on national television and had stated that Sushant wasn't a depressed man. But she faced a lot of hate from Rhea Chakraborty's supporters.

On September 10, 2020, Rhea Chakraborty's friend and Farhan Akhtar's girlfriend had called out Ankita Lokhande, and had stated that she was looking for her '2 seconds of fame'. Within no time, SSR's warrior came in support of Ankita and lashed out at Shibani for her comment on the actress. Sushant's sister, Shweta Singh Kirti and her husband, Vishal Kirti also came in support of the actress. Shweta took to her Twitter handle and tweeted, "Don’t even bother to clarify my dear. We are here for a cause and that is to know the whole truth, and we will keep pursuing that regardless! #WarriorsRoar4SSR."
Shweta Singh Kirti's husband, Vishal Kirti also tweeted, "Dear @anky1912. Please don’t take the jibes made by paid PR seriously. Your support means a lot to the family. This is an organized effort to attack people who want #Justice4SSR.As you have correctly pointed out,all we want is to know the truth. More power to you for your bravery." On September 10, 2020, Ankita had taken to her Instagram handle and had penned a long note, which could be read as ""2 seconds of fame" This phrase got me thinking today. Coming from a tier 2 city and belonging to a humble background, I had no fancy education to show for myself. I entered the television industry in the year 2004 with a show called Zee Cine Star Ke Khoj. But my real journey began in 2009 with the show "PAVITRA RISHTA" which went on till 2014. I would be doing an injustice if I don't mention that it was among one of the best shows for 6 consecutive years with the highest GEC TRP on television till date."
The actress had also opened up on the '2-second fame' remark, "To conclude, I have been an ACTOR in Television & Bollywood for the past 17 years & now, when I am trying to support justice for my late friend, a view has been expressed that I am seeking JUSTICE because I need 2 seconds of fame and cheap publicity! I cannot fathom as to why any person would take such a stand. Is it because I have worked mostly on television and not in Bollywood? Is that why you would take a stand for the person with whom you have had a relationship for almost a decade? Stop looking down on we television actors, if that was your reason for describing my words as 'GROTESQUE'. It takes an equal amount of hard work and dedication for the actors in the television industry as it would take in Bollywood. I am proud to be a television actor. And if not for anything, I shall always raise my voice for the people I love and care about."
