The Raata ceremony is a significant Telugu pre-wedding ritual. It symbolises the blessings and purification of the bride. During the ceremony, a bamboo stick adorned with mango, jamun, and Jammi tree leaves is planted. It is then worshipped with sacred materials like pancha loha, which means five metals; navaratna, meaning nine gems; and navadhaanya, which are nine grains. Then, a sacred pouch is tied to the pole, and prayers are offered to the pancha bhuta, which means five elements that are considered the basis of all cosmic creation and all the deities in the eight directions.
A close source to Sobhita reported that she cherished wearing the ancestral jewellery, which added a sentimental touch to the ceremony. It was shared that after the Raata ceremony, the Mangalasnaanam ceremony took place, which is also known as the haldi ceremony in north India. In the ceremony, turmeric paste is applied to the bride's body as part of a purification process.
