Actress, Sonakshi Sinha is fearless and does not mind putting her opinion on the sleeves; she expresses the same on social media. There was a time when the actress opened up about how people find it normal to bully anyone on social media. She had said that by doing the same, one was not respecting the freedom of speech and expression that one had.
Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, the actress put her views forward when it came to the issue of bullying. The anti-bullying movement grew a lot during the COVID-19-induced national lockdown. Sonakshi, in an interview with Pinkvilla, had expressed that people felt that by just hiding behind the screen, they are anonymous and can say whatever they want to, and in whichever way they want. In her words:
"Definitely, democracy has been misused when it comes to social media and online harassment. People are really taking freedom of speech for granted and mistaking it for freedom to abuse - to which they don't have a right. That's why we are trying to create some awareness and what actions can be taken against those who perpetrate it".
Sonakshi was fearless in saying that she had also been a victim of a bully, on social media. She agreed that she was brutally trolled by naysayers for speaking against the grave topic of cyber bullying. Sonakshi, in her words, added:
"Yes, I was trolled and bullied even for taking a stand against bullying. People without thinking of anything just go out there and vent their frustration. Especially during the lockdown as people have less to do which is why a lot more negativity and hate are coming out online. Initial thoughts are that it is battle but it's definitely one that needs to begin and we need to fight back."
The actress, recently in an interview with Zoom, revealed that women in the film industry are judged more than men. She revealed that a particular actor did not want to do a movie with her as he had the feeling that Sonakshi looked older than him. She revealed that she felt lucky not to have done the movie. For the unversed, there were rumours doing rounds a few years ago that Ranbir rejected a romantic comedy film with Sonakshi as she looked old.
Sonakshi, in the round table discussion with Zoom recently, said that she found herself fortunate enough not to work with the actor, who found her old. She had no interest in collaborating with such people. However, she agreed that women need to face a lot of pressure in the Bollywood industry. The actress further quipped:

“It’s very evident that the same kind of expectations do not (apply) to a man. They are not age-shamed when they are romancing women who are 30 years younger than them. They are not shamed for having bellies, or less hair. It’s very obvious that the women have to take the brunt of it all.”
