Sonakshi Sinha is a powerhouse of talent, and her versatility on the celluloid needs no introduction. Despite being the daughter of an eminent, evergreen actor like Shatrughan Sinha, the diva has made her own stride in the competitive field, and has accepted successes and failures with equal grace and poise. Off lately, Sonakshi is riding high on appreciation, due to her stellar performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first web show, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. For the unversed, she debuted in Bollywood back in 2010 with the film, Dabangg.
In a recent interaction with ETimes, Sonakshi Sinha opened up about her choice to not perform any kissing or intimate scene on-screen, primarily because she doesn’t feel comfortable doing it. The actress remarked that over the 35 films that she has done till now, she has always made her choice against such scenes clear to the filmmaker that she has worked with. She said:

“I’m on my 35th film now and I still stand there! I’ve always made it clear to my director, the filmmaker with whom I am working, that, this is something I am not comfortable doing. It is totally upto you.”

Speaking along the same lines, Sonakshi was asked if she felt losing out any film offer, just because she refused to be a part of certain intimate or kissing scenes. In her response, the diva set the record straight and remarked how she feels a good actor will always get work, and in her case, there hasn’t been a time that she faced lack of offers. Sonakshi further explained how she has kept the option free for the filmmaker to go for a different actor, if they feel such a scene is crucial for the project. In her words:
“A good actor will always get work. In my entire career, I don’t think I have lost out on anything that has had a kissing scene or an intimate scene. If you still want to go ahead with me, if you think as an actor, I would bring something new to the table, I will do the film. But lets find a way around that, lets work it out. Or you are very free to go to someone else who is comfortable doing that. So the option is always open and nobody is left out.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Sonakshi Sinha heaped praises on her recent project, Heeramandi under Sanjay Leela Bhansali and remarked how working on it has made her an exceptionally confident actor now. She explained:
“It was a very gruelling set. Sanjay sir is someone who challenges you and pushes you to be the best version of yourself. And I think that is what he has done to me. I’m much more patient and much more resilient.”

For the unversed, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi, for the first time, witnesses so many actresses come together for a single project, with all having been given equal screen time and emphasis of roles. Previously, in one of her interactions with India Today, Sonakshi dismissed speculations of a possible rivalry that existed between all the actresses working for the film. She sassily responded how such a multi-starrer film with six male actors, on the contrary, would be quite difficult to think about.
