Announcing the world about her cancer, Sonali’s post cold be read as, “Sometimes, when you least expect it, life throws you a curveball. I have recently been diagnosed with a high grade cancer that has metastised, which we frankly did not see coming. A niggling pain led to some tests, which led to this unexpected diagnosis. My family and close friends have rallied around me, providing the best support system that anyone can ask for. I am very blessed and thankful for each of them.”
It could be further read as, “There is no better way to tackle this, than to take swift and immediate action. And so, as advised by my doctors, I am currently undergoing a course of treatment in New York. We remain optimistic and I am determined to fight every step of the way. What has helped has been the immense outpouring of love and support I’ve received over the past few days, for which I am very grateful. I’m taking this battle head on, knowing I have the strength of my family and friends behind me.” And how well she is fighting it!
It has been a while since Sonali is on a break from her treatment and is back in her Mumbai home, until she leaves for her treatment to New York again. Today (February 04, 2019) is World Cancer Day and on account of the same, Sonali shared many integrate details about her treatment back in New York with Bombay Times. She shared, “I think humour is the best way to deal with it. I laughed through it, I laughed with it. And I continue to laugh at it. There is no other way to deal with it. I think I will change my vocabulary. I remember that post-surgery, I would sometimes walk around the hospital with my chemotherapy IV in my hand, because I was bored of lying down. My friends have some funny videos of me doing all that stuff.” (Must Read: Ranveer Singh Writes An Open Letter For Wifey, Deepika Padukone, Calls Her The Light Of His Life)
She further added, “My hair had gone and I was constantly rubbing my head. I have one of those videos, where my friend is telling me that I am constantly rubbing my head, and I turn around and tell her that I am actually dancing to Tattad Tattad. They fell down laughing. Even while the chemo was going on, we would look at videos, crack jokes and laugh. I told myself, I am spending so much of money here, so I will treat it like a holiday in NY, with a little bit of chemos thrown in. That was my way of dealing with it.”

Speaking about resuming work once again, the Sarfarosh actress stated, “I am definitely getting back to work; I want to work every day of my life now. I don’t know what I will do, so I am leaving that open. I have realised in the last six months that if your brain is working at a fast pace and your body can’t keep up with it, then it can get really frustrating.”
Amongst all these, three people who have never left Sonali’s side are hubby, Goldie Behl, son, Ranveer and sister, Rupa. It was Sonali’s 44th birthday on January 01, 2019, and the actress’s hubby, Goldie Behl, took to Instagram and shared a heart-stirring note for his dear wifey. The note could be read as, “Happy birthday Sonali. They say your partner needs to be your best friend, your sounding board, your mirror, your strength, your inspiration. You have been all that and more to me. 2018 was a tough year on you but I am so proud of the dignity and courage with which you handled it. Not only did you help me find my own strength, but you imparted that to every soul who followed your life closely. It is never easy to be at the receiving end and yet be so positive and spread so much love. Thank you for being the person you are. On your special day, I wish you all things wonderful, all things love, all things that bring a cheer to you through the year. So #SwitchOnTheSunshine like you always do and make this year count #OneDayAtATime.” Here’s the image that came along with the post: (Also Read: First Picture Of Ekta Kapoor's Son, Ravie And Tusshar's Son, Laksshya Shows They Can't Wait To Play)
