Sonam Kapoor Gives A Sneak Peek Into Her Maximalist Indian Heritage Inspired Home With Old Ad Finish

Sonam Kapoor is hailed as one of the most creative actresses in Bollywood. Be it for her sartorial picks or home decor, the diva never fails to impress fans. This time around, Sonam gave us glimpses of her maximalist Mumbai home that beautifully and artistically reflects her love for Indian art and culture.

Sonam Kapoor recently gave a home tour to AD 100 designer, Kavita Singh, where she shared how she wanted her home to reflect her love for all things nostalgic. As her apartment is a very modern building, Sonam wanted it to have pieces from her childhood that would tell the story of her journey as an individual. Sonam shared that her nani lit the pilot flame of her aesthetic interests, “She was a tiny woman but so full of vim.”

Sonam Kapoor's living room is the epitome of old Indian heritage and all things colourful

Sonam Kapoor shared that she has completed all her fantasies while decorating her living room. She went all out and added layered colours and pictures on the walls, decorating them with an eclectic mix of arts and crafts pieces that she had collected over the years. The dominant tone of the room is golden, with several shades of red, blue and copper. The loving space indeed looks like a place out of vintage royal palaces, a vibrant and inspiring mix of colors and cultures.

The living room had a grand entrance hall decked with a chorus of soulful reds and oranges, artic rafts, and wall patterns. The rest of the room was decorated with otherworldly antique Chinese glass paintings and Pierre Frey wallpaper. Talking about her art collection, Sonam added:

"This house, which I share with my husband Anand and baby son Vayu, represents a new chapter for me, as a woman, a collector—and a mother.  I had been longing for a base in which to curate all the things I have collected while filming in far-flung parts of India over the years. If I love something, nothing will stop me getting it home."

Sonam Kapoor's love for blue and white themes

Although Sonam Kapoor has not openly expressed her love for the colour blue and white, her kitchen and dressing area speak volumes about the actress's love for the hues. Her kitchen, with custom tiles curated by artist, Shibani Dhavalikar and traditional Indian copper and brass vessels, exudes an elegant charm.

Coming to her dressing areas, the space is beautifully designed. Vikas Soni painted the walls in shades of blue and white. The mirror is custom-made from Venetian. The dhurrie rug by From Jaipur further escalates the glory of the area. Silver tableware was inherited from her mother. The candle stands are from Taherally's.

Sonam Kapoor's easy-breezy bedroom and son, Vayu's jungle-themed nursery

The bedroom is a sanctuary that reflects one's true personality, a safe space to cocoon in at the end of the day. In Sonam Kapoor's primary bedroom, a repurposed jali from Rajasthan stands behind the upholstered bed, adding a touch of history and character. The glass tri-layered chandelier was sourced from Jaipur, which added a different level of elegance to the room. The bedding, chosen for its unparalleled comfort and the style is from Maximiliano Modesti, while the silver objects on the nightstand are family heirlooms. The Chinese and Dutch pottery is from Delhi-based shop, Vayu.
