Alia Bhatt is the leading diva in Bollywood at the moment, and there are no second thoughts about the same. She has been garnering fame not just at the national level, but has also spread her charm globally. She has also proven her versatility over the time, as Alia is not only an exceptional actor, but also an entrepreneur and fashion icon. Off lately, Alia made headlines with her appearance at the Met Gala 2024, which created a rage amongst her fans. However, despite the terrific highs that she has witnessed in her life and career, back in her personal life, she is the same grounded person for her family members, who simply dote on her.
In a recent conversation with her daughter, Alia Bhatt for The NoD Mag, Soni Razdan recalled how she used to spend her youthful years along with her husband, Mahesh Bhatt and their daughters, Alia and Shaheen in a cramped 1BHK apartment. The actress remarked that as a family, their income was quite less, but they didn’t complain about their deplorable housing circumstances, since they were young. Moreover, she attributed raising her daughters in a simple ways, adding how her daughter, Alia Bhatt didn’t even have a designated playroom to herself. Soni said:
“Back then we lived in a small one-bedroom flat. We didn’t have a lot of money, we were young, we were struggling to make it. But the children were brought up with a lot of love. We didn’t have smartphones—heck, Alia didn’t even have a playroom. But then, life was simpler.”

Speaking along the same lines, Soni Razdan then remembered how during her daughters’ childhood, she felt like a single parent while raising them single-handedly. Explaining her remark, the veteran actress stated how Mahesh Bhatt used to be always busy in work, and she was left to tend her three-year-old daughter, Shaheen, who simply refused to sleep at night. In her words:
“That time I felt like a single parent. Mahesh was supportive, but he was knee-deep in work, shooting for three films a day. I remember Shaheen was just three weeks old when he went off to a shoot, and I was left literally holding a baby, who refused to sleep at night.”
In the concluding segment of the interview, Soni Razdan then shifted her perspective to her granddaughter, Raha Kapoor. The doting grandmother remarked how she feels grateful that her naatin has received a privileged upbringing, thanks to the latter’s mom and her daughter, Alia Bhatt whose position allows her to nurture Raha in the best of means. She added:
“Every parent hopes to raise their child well, wants their child to be a better version of them. Today, Raha has a lot more. Alia’s position allows to give her the very best—the best childcare, the best nurses, and the best toys. Alia knows her privilege and is grateful for it.”
