Celebrity monk Gaur Gopal Das is the most followed motivational speaker and has been an inspiration to millions. An engineer by profession, Gaur Gopal Das left everything behind in search of spirituality. He talked about the biggest regret in his life during his recent appearance at Rajat Sharma’s show, Aap Ki Adalat.
In the show, the spiritual leader revealed how he stopped talking to his father after he refused to quit smoking. Gopal Das, who tried his best to persuade his father, thought if he stopped talking to his father, he might quit the habit. But that didn’t happen, and the father-son duo didn’t talk to each other for years.
In the same conversation, Gaur Gopal Das stated that it was his ego that stopped him from initiating a conversation with his dad. As a result, when he passed away, Gaur Gopal Das was shattered and regretted his decision not to speak to him. The monk also revealed how he bowed down to his father’s mortal remains and asked for forgiveness. He also urged people not to hold any grudge against anyone.

As soon as Gaur Gopal Das shared a glimpse of his interview on his IG handle, many users praised him for owning up to his mistake. Out of the many comments, one user blamed Gopal Das and criticized him for his act. The comment can be read as “Y he said sorry when father was no more. Jiti zindagi maa baap ko dukh doh marney ke baad pandito ko khana khilao sorry bolo uska koi fayda nahi.lanat hai aise logo ko..Marne ke baad unke paro me girney ka kya fayda hua. Shame.” Not only the spiritual guru addressed the comment but also accepted his mistake and wrote:
“Ji! Galati ho gayi! To Aapki lanat aur shame bhi accept karta hun.”
Born in a middle-class Marwari Jain family in Vambori town in Maharashtra, Gaur Gopal Das was brought up in Pune. He is a disciple of Radhanath Swami. After graduating, Prabhu Gaur Gopal Das began his career as an electrical engineer at Hewlett Packard (HP). However, he was not happy with the material gains and decided to quit his job to follow the path of spirituality. Gaur Gopal Das believed that it was simple to mint money but difficult to stay content and happy. To raise awareness around spirituality and healing, he chose to become a monk to motivate spiritual thinking in people.

Gaur Gopal Das is one of the popular figures in the world of spirituality, so much so that his social media presence is untamable. Gaur Gopal Das has been conferred several honours, including the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Award and an honorary doctorate (DLitt) from KIIT University.
Gaur Gopal Das’s father passed away in 2009 after suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
