Sridevi was one of the finest actresses of her times, being one of the highest-paid superstars of her generation. The diva created a legacy of herself, contributing hugely across pan-Indian cinema. She had ventured into the world of films at the age of four, a mere child artist who captivated everyone with her skills.Going forth in her career, Sridevi delivered some memorable performances, including films like Mr. India, Chandni, Judaai, Khuda Gawah, Laadla, English Vinglish among many others. Unfortunately, the talented diva passed away in 2018, after accidentally drowning in her hotel room’s bathtub in Dubai, where she attended a family wedding. For the unversed, Sridevi was married to Boney Kapoor and the duo are parents to their daughters, Janhvi and Khushi.
Recently, the municipal corporation of Mumbai, BMC, paid an honour to the exemplary legacy of the late actress, Sridevi, as they renamed the iconic spot of Mumbai Junction within the Lokhandwala Complex in the city. The spot, which is now renamed as ‘Sridevi Kapoor Chowk’ has a special significance to the late actress, who once resided in the same area, at her residence in the Green Acres Tower. Moreover, her funeral procession in 2018 also passed through the adjacent Purshotam Tandon Road.

Sridevi was survived by her dearest husband and filmmaker, Boney Kapoor and their two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Quite evidently, after the demise of the actress, her family’s life turned completely upside down, and even today, the three of them haven’t been able to process their lives out of that sheer grief. Previously, in one of his interviews with DNA, Boney Kapoor nullified any chance of a biopic being made on his late wife’s life, and stated privacy as the primary reason behind the decision.
Back on May 2, 2024, Sridevi’s elder daughter and actress, Janhvi Kapoor announced her partnership with Airbnb, as the star daughter rented out her mother’s ancestral home in Chennai. This was the first property Sridevi had purchased, and had spent some of the best moments with her husband and her daughters, whose childhood went there. The actress’ home is one out of the 11 listings of icon properties by Airbnb, and the guest who would rent out the space would be offered the first-ever intimate access to the diva’s life and works.

Back in 2011, during a candid interview with the AsiaSpa magazine, Sridevi had delved into the most precious memory of her life. The actress spoke about the tumultuous times in Mumbai during the 1993 serial blasts and revealed at that time, she was staying at the Sea Rock hotel in the city. Recalling how Boney Kapoor rushed to her in order to ensure her safety, Sridevi mentioned:
“Amongst the several cherished moments that I have spent with my husband, I especially remember this one incident where I felt his deep concern for me. It was on the day of the first Mumbai bomb blast, when I was staying at the Sea Rock Hotel in Mumbai. When he got to know of the blast, he rushed to the hotel and got to know that I was shooting at the Natraj Studios."
