Released in 2003, the film, Chalte Chalte was a major hit, and it starred Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles. However, the film led to some major differences between SRK and singer, Kailash Kher, after the latter's song was replaced. Once in a conversation with Bollywood Thikana, Kailesh shared that he was called to sing a song for Chalte Chalte which took a lot of effort. But after he recorded the song, he was never informed that he was being replaced and his version of the song was not used in the film.

Kailash Kher added that though he was pretty happy that he sang for a Shah Rukh Khan film, when the first audio CD of the film came, it didn’t have his name. The singer also said that the incident taught him to never get too attached to the film industry. Kailesh added:
"That is when I got the first setback. I thought, ‘Bade aadmi bhi choti harkat kar sakte hain'. They made another singer sing the song."
