Sumedh Mudgalkar admitted that he and his entire team worked very hard, and being a part of RadhaKrishn is a massive achievement for him on a personal level. There's no denying in saying that RadhaKrishn has given a huge boost to Sumedh's career. When the actor was asked about his casting for the role of the show's lead character, 'Lord Krishna' once in an old interview with a leading publication, the actor shared a surprising story.
Sumedh Vasudev Mudgalkar revealed that initially, when he contacted the show, RadhaKrishn's casting directors, they offered him a negative role and told him to come for an audition. Although Sumedh had turned it down initially, but on someone's advice, he decided to go for the audition because Siddharth Kumar Tewary was the show's director. Thus, Sumedh went there and auditioned for the negative character, but something magical happened, and the next morning, he was offered the role of Lord Krishna. He said:
"I auditioned for the role, even though it was a negative role. But, to my surprise, the next day they called me saying, I needed to go back and do a mock shoot for Lord Krishna's role. Later, I came to know that producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary felt I could play Lord Krishna. And at first, I could not believe it, but then my entire efforts were focussed on convincing the team how I could play the part. And the rest is history."
Star Bharat's show, RadhaKrishn, ran back in 2018 and had 1145 episodes. It is still considered one of the most successful shows in TV history. If we talk about the compensation of the show's lead, Sumedh Vasudev Mudgalkar, for playing Lord Krishna, he reportedly charged a sum of Rs. 65,000 per episode. The actor's total earnings from the show was somewhere around the mammoth figure of Rs. 7.47 crore. The whooping amount is totally justified as Sumedh's role as Lord Krishna and his chemistry with Mallika Singh (Radha) and Rukmini (Zalak Desai) was absolutely spot on.
