Sunidhi Chauhan is one of the most popular female playback singers in Bollywood. She has given several popular songs to the industry and is known for her versatile singing. From using a wide variety of notes to giving electrifying dance performances at her concerts, Sunidhi has always stolen the hearts of her fans. Recently, the singer shared her take on criticism around the use of auto-tune by singers and revealed her experience.
Recently, Sunidhi sat down to have a conversation with Raj Shamani. She shared that she does not use auto-tune in her music, unlike many other singers. For the unversed, auto-tune is a technology used to automatically improve and correct a singer's voice. The singer added that she might practise singing her song 100 times. But she won't use auto-tune. In her words:
"I don't use auto-tune, though others do. If it's my work, I might sing 100 times to ensure it sounds right, but I won't rely on auto-tune."

Sunidhi added that auto-tune is now used mainly by every singer. However, it causes everyone's voice to sound the same, which is wrong. She said that the technology is not bad, but it is essential to use it correctly. She was quoted as saying:
"Auto-tune is an effect that makes a voice shine a little more. These days they use it everywhere. My problem with it is that when it is used on everybody's voice, all the voices sound same. If you get three female singers for a song and use auto-tune in each of their voices, it won't be exactly the same but there will be a similarity."
In the same conversation, Sunidhi shared that auto-tune has become a standard tool in the industry. Recently, netizens have been criticising the increasing use of auto-tune by singers. The Sheila Ki Jawani singer even said that many singers view it as a basic need for singing and want to constantly use it. She was quoted as saying:
"I've heard so many singers walk into the studio and ask, 'I'm going to go on the mic, but there's auto-tune, right?' It has become a basic expectation."
