Sunny Deol is a talented actor and there are no second thoughts about it. With his smashing comeback film, Gadar 2 breaking all the records at the box-office, it requires no proof as to how much his fans still love him and want to see him on-screen frequently. Apart from his successful film career, Sunny also happens to be an honoured Parliamentarian and is the elected MP for Gurdaspur in Punjab. However, Sunny often skips the meetings at the Parliament, and is seldom actively seen in politics. And recently, he opened up about the same.
During his recent appearance on the show, Aap Ki Adalat, Sunny Deol spoke about his frequent absence from the meetings and workings of Parliament, as well as the legislative body of his district, Gurdaspur. Sharing the reason behind the same, Sunny acknowledged that his low attendance in political affairs is due to the fact that he does not feel well suited for a profession like politics. Elaborating more, Sunny mentioned:
“My attendance is really low and I don’t say that this is a good thing but when I came into politics, I realised this is not my world. But I am working for my constituency and I will keep doing that. It doesn’t matter if I go to parliament or not, that doesn’t affect my work for my constituency. Also, I face problems when I go to the parliament. There is security and then there was Covid. As an actor wherever you go, people surround you. I have a list of the work I’ve done for my constituency, but I am not among those who promote their work. As for politics, yes it is a profession that I don’t fit in.”

In the same interaction, Sunny was further enquired if he wished to run for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The actor firmly highlighted that he does not wish to fight with anyone anymore, be it in politics. Sunny further asserted that the honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi is aware of the services he has offered during his tenure as an MLA despite his active presence in films. In his words:
“I don’t want to fight anymore. Modi ji also knows that this boy Sunny is doing service for the country through his films, so he should continue doing that.”
In one of his revelations in the show, Seedhi Baat, Sunny Deol had given out a clear cut and sassy response when asked about his views on the frequent cases of drug abuse that surfaced from within Bollywood. Defending such a stance, Sunny mentioned such incidents of drug abuse do not concern with the industry that it is coming from, but with the people who are associated with it. Moreover, he added that the Hindi film industry gets all the limelight in such cases due to media exaggeration and extreme spotlight.
