Sunny Leone is the stage name of Karenjit Kaur Vohra, who has come a long way. From working in adult films to her journey in Bollywood, Sunny proved to the world that everything is possible if you can dream it. Recently, Sunny Leone explained why she chose her stage name 'Sunny', and how her mother was disappointed as it was the actress' brother's nickname.
Sunny Leone was born in Canada to an Indian family and moved to India a few years ago. Recently, in interaction with Mid-day’s Sit With Hitlist series, Sunny revealed the reason behind picking up her name and why her mom hated it. The actress revealed that she was doing a lot of part-time work when a magazine in the US interviewed her. And when they asked her stage name, she in a hurry answered, Sunny.

Sunny Leone further added that she told the magazine to pick up the last name on their own, and so they used Leone. She was quoted as saying:
"I was in the US doing an interview for a magazine and they said, 'What do you want your name to be?' I couldn’t think of anything at that moment. I was working at a tax and retirement firm and I worked for the HR department, accounting department, and another agent. I helped with all these things, and then I was also a receptionist. So, I was doing the interview in this place and I knew I had to get off the phone soon and get back to work, because I would get caught. And they were like 'what would you like your name to be' and I said, 'Use Sunny as my first name, and then you can pick the last name'."
Further in the interview, Sunny revealed that the name belonged to her brother, whose real name is Sandeep Singh, but the family called him 'Sunny'. Her mom was left disappointed as she picked her brother's name. She was quoted as saying:
"Sunny is my brother's nickname. His name is Sandeep Singh, we call him Sunny. My mom hated that I named myself Sunny. She said, 'Out of all the names, that's the one you pick?' I was like, yeah, it's just what came to my mind… And then the magazine picked the last name and I just kept it."
