Despite this, the actress has shared how her choices are often met with scepticism. Recently, the Main Hoon Na actress appeared on Rhea Chakraborty's Chapter 2 Podcast and shared insights on her marriage plans and decision to adopt kids and raise them without a father.
Sushmita Sen adopted her elder daughter, Renee, in 2000. The actress was often speculated to be dating someone in B-town at different points in her career. However, she never confirmed any speculation. Sushmita is unmarried and shared that she once discussed her marriage plans with her daughter, Renee, who felt there was no need for her to marry. She was quoted as saying:

"Renee responded, 'No, absolutely not. What's the need to get married? Not this person, not that person, no person. Don't get married; why? You're so cool.'"

After Renee, Sushmita adopted her second daughter, Alisah, in 2010. The Taali actress often shares photos of their family of three on social media. But on some occasions, like on sports day or other occasions when other kids used to come with their father, her daughters missed having one in their life. Despite this, Sushmita used to go to those events and often win, which eventually made them happy. Although she believes having a father is essential for balance in a kid's life, she said her daughters don't miss it as they didn't have one.
Sushmita Sen was only 21 years old when she decided to adopt a child. She had won the Miss Universe pageant earlier and worked successfully in showbiz Despite her achievements, the people around her were unsure about her decision. Sushmita explained it in one of her IG posts and added that irrespective of those opinions, she stood firm in her decision. Soon, the actress came to realise that it was the best decision she took in her life.
