Gayatri Joshi rose to fame with her exceptional performance in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer film, Swades in 2004. Her petite performance as the leading lady had won hearts, and people fell in love with her simplicity. Her character of ‘Gita’ resonated with each and every one of the audience, as it reflected a sense of the ordinary Indian girl deeply cultured and rooted. However, while the audiences were expecting more out of her, Gayatri decided to step down from films and got married. And now, she spoke about this massive decision of hers.
In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Gayatri Joshi opened up about her decision to step down from the showbiz world, and instead step into the family life. For the unversed, right after a year of the release of her debut film, Gayatri tied the knot with Vikas Oberoi, who is an eminent promoter of the Oberoi Construction. Speaking about taking such a mammoth decision, Gayatri called it totally unplanned. In her words:
“I had an open mind and was willing to hear scripts. I believed a great opportunity would come my way soon. While I received awards for Best Newcomer, sometimes things don’t go as planned.”

In the same interview, Gayatri spoke about how her perceptions of moving ahead with a successful career in films got completely changed when she met the man of her dreams, Vikas Oberoi. She highlighted that it made her understand that she always needed a fulfilling family life more than working in films. She mentioned:
“Meeting my husband, Vikas Oberoi, made me realize I wanted a fulfilling family life more than being in Bollywood. My husband is truly my soul mate in every sense. Life often has unexpected and better plans for us!”
Apart from Swades being the one and only film to her credit, Gayatri also had carved several other achievements in the showbiz world. Many do not know that she had kickstarted her glamour career by participating in the Femina Miss India pageant in the year 1999. Moreover, she was even crowned Miss India International in the year 2000. She had also been a part of several music videos, such as Jagjit Singh’s Kaghaz Ki Kashti and Hans Raj Hans’s Jhanjaria.
