Taapsee Pannu has always kept her personal life private from the media. She surprised everyone when she married her longtime beau, Mathias Boe, in a low-key ceremony. But on the show, Taapsee revealed that she got engaged to Mathias 9 years ago.

Yes, that is right! Taapsee and Mathias were secretly engaged for nine years. Despite taking a long time to tie the knot, Taapsee shared that neither she nor Mathias changed their mind about their relationship. It was also a kind of indication that they could stay together for the rest of their life. She was quoted as saying:
"We met around 10-11 years ago and then he proposed to me a year after we met. So nine years of engagement and none of us changed our minds and we still believe we can stay together for most of our lives."
Taapsee has been working with a busy schedule over the last few years. At the same time, Mathias has been an Olympic medal-winning badminton player and a badminton coach. The actress said she waited to marry and sacrificed her single status as Mathias was coaching Indian players, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy for the Olympic games. In her words:
"I made him my boyfriend, got him to retire, made him work for India and then once everything was done I got married to him. I sacrificed my single status for the country so that India can get a doubles badminton coach."

In the same conversation, Taapsee mentioned that she did a crazy thing for Mathias when they were dating. She decided to travel abroad to Denmark when she barely knew Mathias and was confused about why Mathias was interested in her. Moreover, her friends even warned that she might fall prey to human trafficking, but he turned out to be a nice guy, and they eventually fell in love with one another.
