Veteran actress, Tabassum Govil was one of the finest actresses in the entertainment industry. She began her acting career as a child artist, however, she later went on to rule the heart of millions with her films in the 40s and 50s. The legendary actress had shown her acting stint in movies like Bahaar, Gambler, Chameli Ki Shaadi, Nargis, and Deedar. However, Tabassum rose to fame and gained national recognition with the first-ever television show, Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan.
On November 18, 2022, Tabassum Govil had passed away at the age of 78 due to a cardiac arrest. And the heartbreaking news about her demise was confirmed by her son, Hoshang Govil in an interview with The Indian Express. He mentioned that his mother was absolutely healthy, but after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest, she was admitted to the hospital. Talking about the same, he had said:
"She passed away last night around 8.40 PM due to cardiac arrest at a hospital. She was absolutely healthy. We shot for our show 10 days ago. And were about to shoot again next week. It happened all of a sudden."

In a recent interview with ETimes, Tabassum Govil's son, Hoshang Govil opened up about his mother's death and revealed details of her last moments before leaving for the heavenly abode on November 18, 2022. Talking about the same, he even talked about his mother's last wish and revealed that she didn't want anyone to know about her demise for at least two days. Hoshang mentioned:
"It all started with a bout of cold and cough, which got worse. We admitted her to the hospital and in the last couple of days she also suffered from some gastrointestinal problems. Finally, yesterday evening at around 8:40 pm, she suffered a cardiac arrest. Her last rites were performed yesterday. She had a peaceful last journey and it was her wish to not inform anyone about her demise for atleast two days."
Earlier, in April 2021, Tabassum was diagnosed with the deadly virus, COVID-19, and she was admitted to the hospital for 10 long days. And the Deedar actress had fought back the virus and recovered. However, at that time, many rumours about Tabassum having Alzheimer's were doing rounds on the internet. Rubbishing the fake reports, Hoshang had said:
"I am disgusted that people can spread her picture and start a rumour that she has Alzheimer’s. This is absolutely fake. She has got no heart disease, no diabetes."

Talking about Tabassum's famous television talk show, Phool Khile Hai Gulshan Gulshan, some of the big names of the industry had graced the show. Earlier, in an interview with the Hindustan Times, Tabassum had revealed that initially, celebs were cautious about appearing on the show but eventually, they began queuing up outside their office as the show became popular. In her words:
"Initially, some artists would act snobbish about coming on the show, but once it became popular, the biggest names would queue up at the Doordarshan office for a slot. It was as much of a craze then as social media is today."
