Taha Shah Badussha has been grabbing headlines for his stint in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actor has swooned millions of audiences with his charismatic performance in the project, and has rightfully garnered the tag of being the national crush. On the other hand, Taha’s co-star, Sharmin Segal, has been facing backlash for her performance in the same series, and audiences have found her skills lacking finesse. As a result, the actress has faced massive backlash. And now, Taha expresses his opinion on the amount of hatred Sharmin has been receiving.
In a recent interaction with Puja Talwar, Taha Shah Badussha opened up on his perspective about his co-actress, Sharmin Segal facing backlash for her performance in Heeramandi. The actor went ahead to quote his parents, who offered him a logical explanation to analyse her performance. Moreover, Taha claimed that he had witnessed Sharmin put in her best efforts for the role. In his words:

“They have picked on her and whoever I have spoken to, I have made it a point to say that… We are nobody to talk about the audience, but I can talk about people, who are close to me, like my mom and dad. They have come up to me and shared logical explanation as to how her performance was and it made complete sense. I was with her on set for almost 100-110 days. I have seen her put her best foot forward.”

Adding onto his argument, Taha then reminisced witnessing Sharmin on the sets for Heeramandi and revealed how she used to ask logical questions from closely reading the script. He added that Sharmin used to come up with great ideas to improvise the script. Adding how people mustn’t be so hard on her, Taha mentioned:
“When we would discuss the script, she would actually be able to point out logical explanation to something which should not be there. She was an AD to Bhansali initially, she did Malal before and then got into this. She knows his process of working and also went through the whole script. I have always seen her come up with great ideas, put her best foot forward. So I would plead that people give her a break. She is still young in the industry, and I know that this is just her starting point. I really hope they take it easy on her.”
Earlier, in a conversation with Zoom, Taha Shah talked about how people have been quite unfair in comparing his co-star, Sharmin Segal’s performance with that given off by an industry veteran like Manisha Koirala. He reasoned that while the latter has worked with some of the most iconic filmmakers and actors in Bollywood throughout her career, Sharmin, on the other hand, is still new and would definitely do better by brushing up on her skills.
