Behind every successful man, there is a woman, and it stand true in the case of Bollywood actors too. There is an array of actors, who have always credited either their wives or mother for their immense success. Whether it is Gauri Khan’s unconditional support throughout Shah Rukh Khan's acting career or Amitabh Bachchan’s mother, Teji Bachchan introducing him into the world of theatre, we have many such examples. And one amongst them is Tahira Kashyap, who has always been through the thick and thin of her actor husband, Ayushmann Khurrana's life. Recipient of one National award and four Filmfare awards, Ayushmann had won millions of hearts with his debut performance in Vicky Donor. After winning Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut, he had stunned everyone with his performances in movies like Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Badhaai Ho, Andhadhun, and Article 15. But it is Ayushmann’s wife, Tahira Kashyap, who has been his pillar of strength. It was in 2001 when Ayushmann Khurrana had confessed his love over a phone call to Tahira Kashyap and seven years later, the couple had tied the knot. Happily married for 12 years now, Ayushmann and Tahira are one of the most sought-after couples of the glamour world.
However, during Ayushmann’s struggling days, Tahira had thought that he would not be able to make it in Bollywood. Revealing the same in a throwback interview with Times Now Digital, Tahira had shared, “When I talked to my parents, they were like what does he want to become. I was like he wants to become an actor but I am very sure he will not become and that was the condition why we got married because I was absolutely sure he won't make it to Bollywood.”
From being best friends to now soulmates, nothing has come between them, not even his stardom. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Tahira had talked about her initial insecurities about Ayushmann’s lovemaking scenes. Tahira had said that she had felt uneasy when she had seen his lovemaking scene with Yami Gautam in the film, Vicky Donor, but with time, she had overcome it. Talking about the same, she had quoted, “Yeah, I was insecure earlier but when I was watching the edits of Andhadhun, I told the team that something is missing in the make-out scene between Ayushmann and Radhika Apte. Being a star wife can be a bit difficult sometimes, dealing with all the limelight the husband gets. Tahira, who is also a filmmaker, had also spoken about whether her identity went for a toss under the stardom of her husband. She had stated, “I know Ayushmann for 18 years and I take pride in being called as Ayushmann’s wife. As far as my identity is concerned, the world has been really receptive towards the message I have of self-acceptance. People have started to accept me for who I am and my presence, opinion and existence.”

Do you know, Tahira was diagnosed with cancer on Ayushmann’s birthday in 2018? When the actor was promoting his two blockbuster films, Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun, his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Ayushmann had been her constant support throughout her survival journey and stood like a pillar at every juncture. In an interview with the Mid-Day, Ayushmann had revealed that Tahira was diagnosed with breast cancer on his birthday (September 14) and they had to maintain a happy state to deal with the trauma. He had stated that there was no point in crying and he had taken her to watch the film, Manmarziyaan. After the film, they had come back and had gotten the date for her operation.
